What's new

Donovan Mitchell - We are lucky to have him

I'm guessing it was. The Democrats need a more convincing candidate the Hillary though. I didn't vote last election because I could not feel comfortable after voting for either of them and if I voted someone else, it would have been a waste of time.

Hooray for bipartisanship. Here we go Team Jacob and Team Edward. Which team you on, dudes? Smh.

The cheating and shady behavior scared me away from Hillary... Trump seemed like more of an open book and I just wasn’t sure if I wanted the BS I knew I didn’t like or the BS lurking in the darkness. I was literally sick to my stomach.

Yes, but I didn't feel I could trust the Clintons. I also thought maybe he'd get good advisers and tone his BS down. Like maybe he will act presidential.

I went back and forth a lot... almost punted and voted for Mickey Mouse. It was like a bad would you rather question where there was no right answer in my opinion.

Umm there were more than 2 candidates. The reason we have a two party system is because people tell themselves that and don't vote for someone else. Maybe vote for the change you want?

Agreed, but I didn’t put my name on Trump either. Choosing the lesser of two evils is still evil. Trump is the most divisive President I’ve seen. Obama wasn’t perfect, but Trump takes it to another level, literally being divisive on every issue. If the Principle of your high school attacked a student that said something bad about him, as a parent you’d ask for his job. This man is President of the United States, the fact he’s using that platform to attack an NBA player who disagrees with him is despicable, and that’s the bottom line, and to have his blind followers just fall in line is just a scary thing to watch. Both sides have these type of people, but some of Trumps followers do fit the exact profile they’ve been given. Bigoted, racist, POS. Not those like you who reluctantly voted for him, but his base is absolutely disgusting and I will gladly vote all blue this November for the first time just to give them the finger.

There were no other candidates I wanted to support or vote for this past election. Votes outside of Hillary and Trump were all for naught too - 100%. This is why I'm so against a two party system and why it's annoying when people say you could have voted for someone else. Yeah, ok, buddy.

News flash... since Trump and Hilary didn't win by just a single vote in any state, individual votes for Trump and Hilary didn't count for anything either. So you might have well voted third party like I did. My vote meant every bit as much as your vote

I didn't want either of them, but during the election, if I had to pick between the two - I probably would have picked Trump. It's interesting because Trump is a flat out embarrassment as POTUS and how he handles himself. He has the temperment of an angry middle school kid on social media. With that said, our economy is killing it and we're very fortunate to be living during a time where things are going so well. Can you imagine if we had a likable president right now? America really would be great again.

Not a bad idea... I’m in. I never really thought of it that way. I don’t see it changing but the generations coming up seem increasingly frustrated with the current system/setup.

Edit:

News flash - *here's another way of saying why not voting made sense for me.*

I didn't vote for lots of reasons and I'm completely fine with it. I didn't vote because I was ill informed or apathetic or unpatriotic. I had my reasons and would still do the same thing over.

At the end of the day, especially after living in a third world country, I've always told myself regardless of party or person, I would do my best to support the U.S. and our president. Trump has definitely made this complicated, but I'm damn grateful to live in the US. I would feel the same if Hillary was voted in too.

And this comment is how you know the media can make you believe what they want. These are the only two candidates, vote for one of them....except there were other choices and if less people thought like this we’d be better off. The next election I will vote against this man, not for something. I’ve had enough of him and his disgusting base.

Its a two party system because everyone says that it is and wont vote for another party, like you. Getting a 3rd party to be viable doesnt even require that party to win the presidents seat or an election. Even just getting 5% would do wonders for getting a viable 3rd party. Its not a wasted vote if you are looking at the long term, but too many people think its throwing their vote away. Not voting is not a good solution to solve things.

So if you are actually against the two party system vote that way. If everyone who feels like you did we would have a 3rd party or more. Democrats and Republicans put a large effort into making you think its a 2 party system and you have to vote for one or the other. Too many people give into their propaganda.

No individual vote matters regardless of whether you like the candidates, but if enough people just vote for who they want and dont worry about it being a wasted vote it will make a difference. At the very least you can know you tried to make a difference and did something.

I agree.

That is one of the reasons that I think there is a silver lining to Trump winning. Between Trump and Bernie it made young people care about our government and voting, more than they have. It made so many people look into laws and policies that they dont like and want to change them. It rallied a lot of people to get involved. Maybe it wont make a difference but I think it might.

Who were the other choices I was comfortable to vote for? Please, tell me.

Sigh.

I know what I did and why, guys.

hehepeepeecaca

This is not at all what I said. I'd happily vote for a third party.

Please, don't translate what I say into meaning something completely different.

I get what you're saying, but at the end of the day, this still doesn't change the reality of last election. There needs to be change way before election. There needs to be more people on board, informed, and willing to look past team Edward and team Jacob.

Nothing can change the past election. Its also far to late to try and make a change in policy or parties who can win during the election. Those things take a long time and a large effort. There are plenty of people on board for change and for other parties. People just need to do something about it and the first thing is to vote for who they want and to stop telling everyone their vote doesnt matter.

Just because my vote mattered for you or others, doesn't mean it mattered for me. I was not invested in anyone running for president and knew I'd support the president and the US the best I could.

People fought and died for our right to vote. I also like to think they did the same so that we're not forced to vote when we're not happy with who's running.
