2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

DL's love of Favors is what blows my mind. He is making close to twice as much as Exum and yet HE DOESN'T EVEN FIT NEXT TO GOBERT! Sure, I would love for our 6th man to be better, but our 2nd highest paid player has had one awesome game ALL YEAR.

PER: Favros is 2nd, behind Gobert
TS%: 4th (Udoh, Gobert, Sefolosha)
Free Throw Attempt Rate: 5th (Gobert, Udoh, Exum, Allen)
TRB%: 2nd (Gobert)
WS/48: 2nd (Gobert)
Box Plus/Minus: 2nd (Gobert)
VORP: 2nd (Gobert)

Favors produces for this team night in and night out, having few awesome games but even fewer bad games. He's not the problem.

I get all this. Favors is a solid pro. However, if he is such a great player and fit, why is he getting replaced some in the starting lineup by Crowder? Why is he only playing 23 mpg?

But my stance has been consistent for a while now - either Rubio or Favors has to be upgraded. Neither player is a bad player or a bad guy. But we need to be better.

Rozier doesn’t bring to the table what we need.

It's not a secret that I'm a Rozier guy, but I would disagree with you even it I was against Rozier. Rozier is a scorer and we all know we need another one. He is a streaky shooter, and we all know we need more shooters. Defensively, Rozier is better.

Rozier is not ball dominant like Ricky. That could hurt us a little because Ricky does run Quin's offense. However, if our PG was less ball dominant to be effective, then that allows Ingles and Mitchell more touches and ability to run the offense.

If we were to do some trade like this plus some deal like Rubio to Phoenix for Ariza, we would be vastly improved in my personal opinion.

Post some ppg, field goal percentage, and 3 point percentage stats for this great shooting scorer please.

Rozier was one of the main reasons Boston played like they did last year in the playoffs. http://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/3074752/seasontype/3/terry-rozier

He was scoring 16.6ppg with a 5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He shot 35% from three, but he was shooting almost 8 per game. Sometimes, he was the reason they won playoff games.

He is streaky, but he can score. Most importantly, he plays great defense and doesn't turn the ball over. Even if he's off, he's going to provide something.

What are ppg this year and percentages? How often does he get to the line?

39% from the field, 37% from three, 70% from the line (on 1.2 attempts), 9 ppg in 23 minutes.

Not really bad numbers but nothing special. Don't really see him helping us much if it all.

I don't think it's quite fair to use this year's stats for Rozier. Yes, he has been down, but that Boston team was a mess the first 6 weeks of the season. He got to start in the playoffs and he was awesome. Now that Kyrie is back, everyone has taken a massive step back and Rozier has gotten very inconsistent minutes. For example, most thought Tatum was on the verge of being a massive star, and his numbers have been underwhelming.

If somebody like our Utah Jazz gave Rozier the chance to start, I think we would benefit greatly. His strengths compliment Mitchell and Ingles very well on the offensive end. His defense will make Gobert's life easier on the defensive end.

I would never bring Rozier into a situation where he is asked to do too much. For us, he would be asked to defend, not turn the ball over, and provide some scoring when we are in a rut.

If you compare Rubio and Rozier per 48 minutes per game at this season's numbers, Rubio gets twice as many assists but 3 times as many turnovers. Rozier gets twice as many rebounds. Rozier shoots better from 3.

So if you're asking me who is having the better year, despite the inconsistency Rozier is facing, you would say Rubio. But when you break it down, I think Rozier is playing as well as Rubio but is a better defender.

In a vacuum I see the case for Terry but he is pretty meh and we need more creation. He will get overpaid because he’s on a good team and had a good playoff run. Then you figure in the acquisition cost and I’m completely out... just not enough value.

Word on the street is Collison and Joseph might be available cus they want Holiday to get some burn. I’d rather take one of them if we need to make a change. The acquisition cost will be lower and you could retain one of those guys for half what Terry will get.

#1 - I don't disagree with you
#2 - I think we only get rid of Rubio for a player with more potential

I think Jazz nation and Jazz players would throw a fit if we replaced Rubio with a guy like Collison or Joseph. I personally wouldn't be opposed to it because I worry about re-signing Rubio in the offseason for too much. If we replaced Rubio with Rozier, I think Jazz fans and Jazz players will see the potential there. Mitchell, although he loves Rubio, would probably embrace somebody like Rozier who lets Mitchell have the ball more.

That's fair enough... I think Ricky runs hot and cold and is very divisive. Doubt Jazz nation would throw a fit.

For Cory Joseph, I think they might. I'm ready to move on from Rubio Saturday (12/15). And that's not because I don't like him. It's because I think we need to try new things and not rely on him so much. Plus, I think Phoenix is desperate for a PG and Rubio might actually get us something. If we wait until summer, we either settle by keeping him or we lose him for nothing.

Since I think Rubio sucks, telling me rozier is better than him doesn't really do much for me wanting rozier.

My statistical comparison is this year when everybody is saying that Rozier is playing so poorly. The fact that he is playing so poorly yet is so comparable to Rubio just tells you where we are at PG.

Regardless of the stats, Rozier's defense would be an addition by itself.
