Summer 2019 Roster Discussion

Player 1 is Blake Griffin

Player 2 is Julius Randle

Both age 24 season per 100... so pace is accounted for.

I figured one of them was Randle. Likely 2 because of the rebounding lol. I didn't know the other was Blake though, wow. But yeah like I said I'm very intrigued by the possibility of Randle. I like how he has consistently improved his game.

Griffin is only 24? He's one of those that feels like he's been in the league for over a decade. Weird.

It's really amazing that while we regard New Orleans as a dumpster fire, many of us would be thrilled with any of four players the Pels have had, thinking that any one of them could provide us with a second real scorer.

Maybe more than anything, it's a sign of the bad luck the Pels have had (and maybe how thin the line is between perceived success and failure). Injuries have hurt them badly. Their role players should have turned out better. They've won five less games this year than their "expected" Pythagorean outcome, the latter of which would place firmly within the playoff race rather than clearly out as they are now.

(Or maybe it should give us caution in thinking the grass will be greener if we just replace Jazz player X with non-Jazz player Y.)

I just think they've had bad coaching for a while. We don't have that.

Every team in the league has nba level starters on its roster. Every team in the league has players we would want.

It's funny that LA had 5 main young guys and the two best guys as of right now are arguably the two guys they let go:

Russell
Randle
Ingram
Kuzma
Lonzo

Maybe the secret is getting Lonzo, Ingram or Kuzma out of LA....

Kuz is probably the only guy on that list that probably would look worse away from LeBron and the Lakers than he currently does. Ingram would be significantly better if he got used as a playmaker, kinda like what the Heat are doing with Point Justice right now, and while Lonzo seems to be the kind of guy that benefits most with other good players who can mask his weaknesses, he is a guy that needs the ball in his hands in order to get the most out of him too.

This. Unless non-jazz-player is a tier 1 or 2 player then realistically we won't move the needle.

We need to pursue Tobias (max), Kemba (max), Middleton (max), Brogdon ($25ish), Randle ($20ish), Niko ($17ish), Russell ($25+ish), Bojan ($17ish)

If we miss those main targets, I think we need to switch to asset accumulation mode. We should see how much...
- Detroit would give us for taking Reggie Jackson's expiring

- Charlotte would give us for taking expirings like Marvin, Biyombo or MKG

- Miami would give us for taking Olynyk or one of their expirings

- Brooklyn would give us for taking Crabbe's expiring

- Orlando would give us for taking Mozgov's expiring

- Memphis would give us for taking Parsons' expiring

- NOLA would give us for taking Hill's expiring

- Washington would give us for taking Mahinmi's expiring

None of these sacrifice too much but they give us an asset we could use later.

Hate to burst everyone’s bubble but Randle’s basketball acumen is through the roof bad. Sure he puts up stats and all, but he hasn’t helped anyone win. He’s never heard of the term team basketball, he has tunnel vision, oh and he is a very bad fit next to our most important players, DM and Gobert.

He would be a dumpster fire in Utah and we’d have to pay him like an allstar.

Not no, not even hell no, not even **** no, but for the love of god, for all that is holy and good, NO!!!!!!

Not to mention if the jazz did sign him I’d have to hear @ONE LOVE talk about how he should play sf. For the love of god say no to Randle. God damn idiots!!

Great post. I agree about the guys we should pursue.

I think he did win a national championship though so it's not like his teams can't win.

The Lakers pretty much just replaced Randle with the best player on the planet, Lance, Rondo, and Chandler. And they are still a .500 team. They are a broken team.

I don't think Randle carries a team to a winning record. However, I also don't believe that he carries his teams to losses.

I think he is a Zach Randolph or Chris Bosh type player. When those guys were on their own, they put up some good stats but their teams were average. When they join a good team, their stats take a dip but their new team gets the best from them. I think we are a better team than NOLA for sure and Randle fits our needs like a glove.

Carmelo Anthony also won a National championship, so what.

Pels made second round last year. If he’s sooo good, shouldn’t he elevate the pels from where they were last year with Davis. They weren’t good even befor the Davis drama started, for all we know, he doesn’t even like playing with Randle’s style of hero ball and tunnel vision.

Face it he’s not who we want as a second option. We should be shooting for guys like Harris and Klay with Niko as a fall back plan. Randle is just a horrible idea that makes our offense less consistent then it already is. You add Randle, and you are taking the ball away from Mitchell and opportunities away from Gobert. Randle IMO is poison to this offense.

Why would we pay the money for Randle who is not a guy that will propel us to contention he will get paid like a guy that can do this. If we sign him, kiss Mitchell and Gobert goodbye because this team won’t get any better. Signing Randle is a message to this fan base that management is giving up and throwing in the towel. I’d rather lose our two top guys because we tried and failed rather then fail because we signed a lesser talented guy big money that kept the jazz from improving and bringing in an impact type guy, which Randle is not that guy. **** all you idiots that want to sign this idiot, you idiots. Wake the **** up, Randle..... really Randle is going to be our big signing??!!

So much stupid in here!!
