Vacation Locations

So... enough of politics for a while. I was having a conversation with friends and family recently about planning for an upcoming vacation and it got me to thinking about what my favorite place to travel and vacation is.

So, I thought it would be fun if we all told little snippets about places we've been to that we really enjoyed whether on vacation or otherwise.

For me, my favorite place is Venice, Italy. Even with the tourism at a high clip every time I travel there I just feel at peace with the world and feel like I am home. I'm not sure how to truly capture that feeling here but it is just an amazing place and probably the main area I have visited in the world where I felt like it was where I belonged.

How about you guys? What's your favorite place and why?

I also love Venice. I am lucky enough to be going back in September with my wife and daughter.

One of our family's favorite vacations is Bullfrog marina down in Lake Powell. We rent a room at the Ticaboo hotel which is about 10 minutes from the lake. We take our ski boat and find fun canyons with cliff jumping and beaches. The hotel has a diner with amazing pizza and ice cream. Only my son and I like to camp so it works for all of my family to have a hotel to come back to at night and shower and hang out.

We do a similar thing when we visit Garmisch, Germany. It is so beautiful there and a place where no matter the time of year there is plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. We rent a cabin there and grill out most days after exploring the region. My favorite place to go to there is a gorge that you an hike alongside of. It's a very unique experience.

I just want beaches. I never want to go to historic cities. Don't want to see London, Paris, Rome, new york, none of that. It's all concrete, cars, people, noise, buildings, polution. All the stuff I want to get away from in vacation.

For me it's the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Belize, Honduras, Virgin Islands, etc.

My family is from the mountains north west of Venice, Udine is a lovely city, its not far from Venice.

This is the local village\market town.

Its a nice part of the world.

In terms of holidays and places i love there are a few cities in the world I could happily live in, Edinburgh, Hamburg, Buenos Aires and Florence. Well those four and Melbourne. Hamburg is a ****ing awesome place, cheap beers, St Pauli FC, punk clubs, reminds me of St Kilda and Fitzroy rolled into one joint.

Edinburgh, Florence and Buenos Aires are all beautiful cities in their own way and full of possibility and wonder. If i go on holiday in the next 12 months I'm actually pretty torn between, Hamburg and Buenos Aires, we likely come down to money.

I have had great times in Hamburg! My wife has an affinity for Trier, Germany, just loves the area.

I have been all over the world and yet have never been to Mexico. Well, I mean I have been to Tijuana but that's, umm, well, that's different.

I have always wanted to go to Barbados.

I would love to go to New Zealand. Right near the top of my list tbh.

Really want to go to Hawaii too

Been to Hawaii, its too damn hot. New Zealand is full of savages, beautiful place, mostly untouched by civilization, the native women have their charm if you like a bit of rough trade. All in all its best seen in the Lord of the Rings films.
