What's new

Game 26. Warios at Jazz. As Jazzfanz interest wains.

we are trying to elevate our offense while preserving our defense. but it hasn't worked out so far. we need to trade Ed for one more offense piece to at least bring our offense into an elite status instead of mediocrity on both defense and offense.

Ed Davis for Joker.
Exum for Dlil

throw in a future 2nd rounder.

Get it done Dennis!

I'm on board with giving Brantley a shot.

But lets take a step back here and realize what we're talking about. Our bench players are so bad we're talking about bringing up our second round rookie from the G league in the hopes it saves our second unit. It might even work! But it's clear Quin has been dealt a pretty ****** hand here.
But you don't reward $237ty play be keep playing them. It's the same bunch of losers in the bench box score. Does Quin have a death wish?

We should play Brantley, but Quin would never do that; so we should sign Faried, but DL would never do that.

When Green struggles to score the Green/Niang combo is such a massive disaster because neither rebound, neither are playmakers, neither force turnovers, Green is shooting only 46% from 2 and Niang has no game at all inside the arc, neither draw fouls. One can only score (when he's hot) and defend (when he wants too) and the other can only shoot.

Why was it ever even an idea to pair the two? Seriously.

Then you got Ed Davis who is struggling big time to add to it... god.

I actually think Royce would work okay next to Green if we move Royce to the bench after Mike gets back. Green can be an okay bench piece if we have the right pieces next to him on the floor to minimize his off nights. You can't have Niang and Davis providing nothing next to him.

I'd go

Gobert/Bradley
Bogdanovic/Green
Ingles/Oneale
Mitchell
Conley/Mudiay

If Quin wants a tenth guy getting minutes then try Exum, Oni, Brantley, whoever. Just not Niang.

The good news is, according to Tankathon, the Jazz have the easiest remaining schedule.

The bad news is their easiest games are supposed to be against the Warriors.

I feel like Quin actually has been fiddling with the rotations quite a bit lately. The problem is that the bench is so ****ing bad it doesn't matter which starters are playing with them they're getting dragged down. Especially any combo of Green/Niang/Davis.

really? How so? It feels like the same to me. If anything, he’s playing the starters more and shortening the bench rotation. Not even Exum is getting any burn. Mudiay and green seem like the only bench players getting noticeably more mins. But I might just need to pay attention to the lineups more. The problem is the bench is so awful I usually just put the game on mute and read a book until the starters come back in. No one wants to to Ed, Jeff, and george play in the same lineup. No one.

It's rough man. I'm totally on board with playing Brantley, and am hoping they are just trying to give him as many reps with the Stars as possible so he can be ready to step in for the second half of the season, because this **** just can't continue.

Another close game and quin doesn't use his challenge.
Bogey was definitely goal tended once (on the layup attempt) and maybe twice (on the sink attempt I think the defender went up through the rim but I never saw a replay)

Ed Davis sucks.

Bogey can shoot.

Gobert still the best player on the team.

Donovan can jump.

Jazz win and I get to see Burks beautiful smile light up the room multiple times. Merry Burksmas to all.

So nice to see him happy. I don't know if anyone loves playing basketball more than AB. And that behind the head pin point pass at the end of the game that his teammate missed the dunk on was some hoodini **** for old times sake.

Look at some of our minutes distribution today.

Bogey 37, Rudy 36, Mitchell 35. Yikes.

The minutes seem to be tightening up even more than they had been at the beginning of the season. We cannot keep this up for the whole season. Our main guys will be absolutely spent by the time the playoffs roll by. Somebody from the bench has to step up and be consistent enough to give the dudes more of a breather.
