Phoenix Suns watch

Neither LeBron nor Davis are fully healthy. I wouldn't bet on both being 100% by the time the play-in starts.
I wouldn’t, either, but I’d still rather play SA or Memphis. The difference is significant.

I'm suggesting that because they're not 100%, we might end up playing the Spurs or the Grizzlies.

Apparently, both AD and Bron are out tonight.

So if I understand how this play-in things works correctly, we want all the teams to stay as they are right now. Then we want the Warriors to beat the Lakers and take #7. Then we want the Lakers to lose to whomever makes it of Spurs and Grizzlies, so the Jazz then play what is really a lottery team in Rd 1.
Yes that's ideal. But unlikely
I want the Lakers to get the 6th seed and play the clippers in round 1

I think the league wants LA and GSW in the play-in. That may be the highest rated game of the playoffs. If the Lakers drop it, they’d love to sell a “defending champs taking on the first seed upset” series. That’s highly marketable.

What I want now is Blazers holding onto to 5th seed. They control their destiny, Suns game is going to be tough but Denver is likely to rest as they are locked to 4th.

Mavs vs Clips could be fun. Clips path would get a tad harder and if Lakers get the 7th, it would be hella better but I think no rest, high tension games are going to take a toll on them one way or the other.

We look like complete garbage right now. I'm very skeptical about us winning the last 2 at this point.
This. There doesn't seem to be any urgency. And QS hasn't done much to right the ship imo. Right now it's a mess. I hope they think they can flip the switch when the playoffs start because they don't seem too concerned with winning right now.

I also predict a first round ouster.
I'm not sure how much stock should be put into this last week for Utah, and honestly for Phoenix, for that matter.

Utah and Phoenix both clinched playoff spots in April. Just watching the Suns, yeah its easy to say they've worn down, but there was a significant drop in their intensity, even in the Utah game on April 30th that both teams played, compared to when the Suns played the Knicks and Clippers earlier in the week.

Both teams seem to be on cruise control, which for Phoenix, given their nightmare matchup is the Lakers, doesn't seem to make a lot sense. But maybe they are content with the #2, and okay with resting and not revealing too much else for the postseason.

Totally agree. I keep seeing people jump ship after one loss when your top two guys are gone and you’re heavily fatigued because it’s the end of the year and you’re still playing hungry teams. We will get out of round 1 of the playoffs book it.

Welcome to the board! Don't be intimidated when @Saint Cy of JFC calls you an idiot or @Rubashov send you a private invitation to an orgy. Enjoy your time here.

I don't get calling it complete garbage. That team playing without Mike and Donovan has exceeded my expectations by far. Remember when we thought that we would drop to the 3rd seed? We are playing without our main backcourt. We managed to beat Denver nevertheless and are well about .500 in that stretch. We lost to Warriors and Portland, good teams desperate to fight for a better seed. Joe JC and Bojan will struggle at times when put in a too big role. Losing hurts but there is no reason to get depressed.

I had a dream last night that my band from high school was going to perform a show. We weren't practicing or anything, and I don't even really remember our songs, but we were apparently just going to go out there in front of everyone and give it a go. The more I've reflected on this today, I'm thinking this is the Jazz scenario playing out in my mind and reflects what my anxiety is if we're really trying to be extra cautious with guys in hopes of a long playoff run, but we could be looking beyond the mark. We need to have a rhythm, and that's important. If the argument is that if we can't beat the Lakers in the first round then we can't beat them in the WCF, well I don't know that's true. Being able to get going, get in motion, and build confidence is huge. Meeting someone in the WCF allows you to get into a groove, knock off a couple teams, and feel that, to some degree, you're proving yourself. You meet the defending champs in the first round and it's still in the back of your head of what everyone is saying that we are a hot regular season team and haven't proved anything. We can pretend that's not an issue, but everyone struggles with doubt. Everyone struggles with imposter syndrome. You get off to a rocky start in the first two games due to any number of variables, not the least among them re-integrating two starters after prolong absences, and those doubts will magnify in your mind. When they magnify, it changes the way you play. You start playing stupid. Yes, we have the first seed. Yes, we've won some big games. But that does not put us beyond having these have the potential to be a real achilles heels for us. We'll see how it plays out, but I think if we continue to sit Mike the last two games if it's really "not a big deal" and we're focused too much on 6 weeks from now, it may create a problem. The same kind of strategy of not using your last bottle of water in the desert when you're starting to become delirious. You can certainly save it for later, and maybe you'll need it later and it will be smart in hindsight, but if there's a possibility of there not being a later, then dying with a full water bottle ends up not being that great.

@Saint Cy of JFC disliked my comment ha.

You might not remember it. But you actually called me an idiot for my first post years ago. I think I was sharing an article about the Jazz published in Grantland. Somebody else beat me to it by two minutes (I was writing some comments before creating my first thread).

You wrote on the thread "You must be an idiot" and actually negged me. The nerve. This was followed by a private exchange where, well, we were not kind to each other haha.

Since then we are fine. But I always remember that first post. So everytime I see a rookie on the board, I jokingly warn them about Cy.

I guess there will be a "private" section in the championship boat. @fishonjazz , as boat captain, make it happen.
With an the sexy folks on the boat combined with all the booze and cocaine I think it will just happen naturally
