2021 Free Agency

Yall are pretty crazy when talking about Gay... go ahead and look at his stats... then ask yourself do we need a guy that can play PF and stretch the floor and what are the best options for a smallball 5 in the playoffs. Multiple guys pop up and play small ball 5 and everyone is like "who knew?". He's next in a line of guys that made the shift and people will be shocked.

Lolz he averaged 4.8 attempts a game. He got zero meaningful minutes in the playoffs. He’s just not good. Phoenix fans absolutely hate him. When Monty was playing him over Craig they were livid.
Kinda like how Jazz fans were furious Niang was on the court?

He didn’t get minutes because he was hurt. He’s one of the only slashers they have. Saying he’s not good is nonsense.

So after Conley and Butler sign Jazz will have 10 players not counting Oni
under contract if I'm right
Jazz would then need to sign 5 more and 2 two-way players to get to 17
Jazz have a lot of work to do

I don’t have the obsession with a small ball 5 that everyone else seems to have. Really feels like it compounds the problems we have. It’s going to be a layup line…but it is more of a Quin thing than anything.

If you look at Gay’s numbers, they were way down besides 3 point shooting. At 35 I don’t see an upgrade in toughness or physicality. I don’t think he’s going to transform into a roll man.

Rudy has never been a flow guy. Maybe that’s exactly what he needs to keep things going after 30k+ minutes, but I’m not really expecting it. I think he will continue to regress in most areas as most 35 year olds do.

Boston might be shopping Smart

It's tricky because he's an expiring, but he's one of the top 3 guys I've wanted to pair with Mitchell. It seems a lot less likely with Conley re-signed, sadly. He's not tall enough to slot in at 3, and too good to bring off the bench.

I'm in the minority but I'd build a package around a sign and trade of Conley for Smart/other stuff. I'm not even sure Boston would do it either.

If you swap Bogey for Smart, that makes your lineup:

6'1" Conley
6'1" Mitchell
6'3" Smart
6'4" O'Neale
Rudy.

That is way too small, even in the modern NBA.

Bogey’s 6’8 does nothing. If you can play Bogey in that lineup, there is no reason why you can’t play Smart. He is better than Bogey at every “big” thing.

He’s been brought off the bench plenty of times in his career.

I really hope we use the trade exceptions. I don’t know how it works necessarily but as I understand it we can take on salary that fits within the exception? If that’s true there could be a number of guys available.

Just say that you actually hate Bojan. It’s the only thing that explains your clown-*** takes.

I don’t like Bojan, I will tell you that.

But I don’t know why you can’t start Smart if you can start Bogey. What does Bogey’s size actually add? Smart is better at Bogey than everything size should give you an advantage at defensively.

Are you serious?
It's more of a playoff rotation than a full season roster. Would be difficult to pull off long term without a good SF/PF type off the bench.

Smart does rebound as well as Bojan. Better defender, but worse shooter.

So when we play Denver, you're totally fine with Smart guarding 6'9" Aaron Gordon and Royce guarding 6'10" Michael Porter Jr?

I don't see any issues there. Nope, none at all.
