What's new

Paschall traded to the Jazz

definitely from the Grizz in that trade for pick #30. DL threw away all of our 2nd rounders from 2021 to 2027.
Actually, according to realgm, we have our picks beyons 2024 except the 2027(!) 2nd round pick.

We're short 2022 (Memphis, Conley trade) and 2024 (OKC, Favors, 1-10 protection) 1st round picks, and '22, '23, '24 and '27 2nd round picks.

And now '26. Unless that was the incoming picks from this year, which it probably is, but realgm don't list that yet.

This is crazy. So basically the FO traded pick 30 for Butler, Paschall and 1 second rounder. All the while putting a protection on the 2nd he sent to GS. Vicious!

Paschall positions defended last year:

PG - 9.8%
SG - 11.8%
SF - 15.4%
PF - 27.0%
C - 36.1%

If you want to know why the Warriors, here are his impact numbers

That isn't the case at all. We have three big wings that can shoot off the dribble. Honestly have no idea what he's talking about.
Definitely agree here. That's not the player I see Paschall as at all. And if we need to choose someone to be that guy, Rudy Gay and Bogey come to mind.

nah, our 2025 and 2026 2nd's are owed to the Grizz as part of the Conley trade.

"if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Memphis by 2024, then Utah will instead convey its 2025 2nd round pick and 2026 2nd round pick to Memphis"

That is the only reason why DL didn't give away our 2nd's for 25 and 26. Not because he didn't want to, but because he can't.

Grizz would give those 2 picks back to us once that 1st rounder is conveyed, but until it happens, we cannot include our 25/26 picks in any trade talks.

Now we have a 2nd unit that can actually help Clarkson with the workload.
Hopefully we get a solid backup point to seal the deal.
What? The runner-up for 6th man (and who probably should've won it) was a teammate. And the 2nd unit was led by Conley and Gobert. Our bench was dandy last year. We just had absolutely 0 depth beyond the rotation.

Ah, of course. It's not like we *will* give them away, but until proven otherwise, we *might*.

Forrest is a defender. So is Butler. They obviously have everything to prove, but their profile and resume is pretty clear up to this point.
I am in on Forrest hype but he may not crack into the rotation with his shooting and has a lot more to prove on the defensive end than the offensive end. I love Butler but he is a rookie and he only projects as an average defender(which is an upgrade tbh).

Playing one of them as a defender is pretty much the same leap of faith with giving all back-up center minutes to Dok.

Our bench got exposed in that Clippers series though, we also blew a lot of big leads.

The thing is, they are all low salary players filling the end of the bench. The best player can get the minutes- having high quality options is a coaches dream. If Rudy is hurt for 10 games or so, we can still be favored in most of the games and still play our desired sets and the same goes for any of the starters now except maybe DM.
Also maybe Quin is more inclined to take out the starters earlier because now the bench is filled with NBA players so our starters will not be worn down. If guys get hurt we have NBA players to replace them.

Gay is the Niang replacement. Paschall is the Brantley replacement.

Yes, this is the way to look at it. Honestly, I don't know who is more promising. Paschall has played more and showed some skills offensively but nothing that we need defensively. Brantley hasn't played real NBA minutes, but he probably has a better shot to develop the highly valued skillset we need. He's at least active on defense.

This is the 14th (15th?) roster spot so it really doesn't matter so much, but the expectations should be that he's fighting for his career.
