Butler looks good, which is a huge deal because it means we can rest Conley a lot. Thought Pascall looks good and a perfect physical fit for a much needed jazz small ball lineup—if only he could hit like two of the threes he took. If he can start hitting those than he’s going to be in the league for a while. Might be a big if though.

Fitts looks better than Oni.

Udoka looks soft and lacks energy.

Oni is invisible on the offensive end.

Hughes has talent so I'm holding out hope he eventually figures it out.

Butler is promising. I like his shiftiness and creativity.

Forrest looks solid for a 3rd string guard.

If Paschall can start hitting his shots I think he could be the best backup 5 option because I have no trust in Whiteside and not a lot of hope for Udoka.

Dok looks like he can rebound well enough to be a back-up 5. If he plays limited minutes, he can probably put enough energy into his defense. He's just not a guy who can run the floor for 20+ minutes and also make contests on defense.

If Paschall plays 5, Oneale has to be in the game on everyone of his defensive possessions. Paschall is not a good rebounder.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear the announcement of us waiving Oni tomorrow, or on any day in this coming week before the season starts. Just like NWG from last year.

I was honestly thinking the same thing. It's time to cut their losses with Oni.

My $0.25 opinion:
Waive Oni and be done with it,
Paschall looked better than last night.
Dok makes me wonder if we can get Bradley or Willie Reed back,
Fitts was awesome.
Butler looked like a vet.
Hughes was decent and played hard.
The Dookie Exhibit 10 guy looked decent.
Teague did OK but his lack of PT appears to destine him to the Stars.
Royce was good.
Alston looked like the guy that stunk up college gyms.
Forrest did some nice things.

we need more of a 4 more than we need a 5. Paschall is a capable small ball 5 if we can rebound decently at the 3/4 spot.

Game 2

Paschall - Thought he looked really good tonight. Defensively he looks most comfortable in a switching system. Offensively he was a beast in the paint. It's a shame he can't shoot 3's, otherwise I'd feel really good about him as a player. Wayyyy more promising as a C option than Doke.

O'Neale - Very good minutes tonight, probably the most essential player to making the small unit effective. If we go small, he must also be on the court.

Oni - Couldn't shoot for ****, but I think people are being a little too hard on him. He was also important in the first half on defense. He and Royce got a lot of stops and rebounds on bigger players. If we're going to go small, it'd be nice to have a physical wing option outside of Royce. I think he should be on the team.

JC - Man this guy stinks again

Forrest - Good defensive and passing moments, but his overdribbling is getting annoying to watch for me. Dominates possessions too much.

Doke - Awful on both ends again. He had a lot of rebounds, but only those that fell to him. Didn't grab contested rebounds.

Hughes - Similar to last night. Looked the part, didn't really make shots.

Fitts - Actually made his shots which was a rare sighting for this team so far, but I was actually most impressed with his defense in the first half. Luka was Luka, but Fitts was staying with him. Looks more promising as a 2way guy than the others for me.

Butler - Best player in the world

With Gay out, yes....but when he's healthy Whiteside is easily the worst player in our top 9. Locke also said that we might be wanting to shift Ingles to more of a 4/wing to save him the burden of being a primary ball handler. Makes sense because Butler has got to play.

Once we have Gay back, I think we should look at Whiteside/Paschall as a matchup dependent decision. Maybe even before Gay is healthy if we want to play Butler and move Ingles off the ball.

His pace is Andre Miller-Billupsish

I agree that he’s deliberate but I don’t see the old man game. He’s crafty but quicker than those guys ever were IMO.
On the home feed, Derek Harper compared him to. young Isaiah Thomas after an ankle breaker on Porzingis in the key for a deuce.
