Trade deadline discussion

Wood plays on the perimeter. He plays minutes next to Sengun right now anyway. Wood next to Gobert would be like Evan Mobley next to Jarrett Allen.
Because Şengün is a great passer and can play the post. Gobert's strengths are different. I think the offense could work reasonably well but it would definitely take a hit if it's Bogey you are moving. The defense would also take a hit if it was Royce. I don't think Jazz are a good fit.

Wood and Mobley aren't similar at all. Especially on defense.

He'd be very ineffective next to Gobert.

Wood's numbers are way better when he can be the primary PNR option. Next to Rudy he'd just be a big dude who'd float on the perimeter without much scoring pressure.

That's why its really Smart for me... he does well individually and rotating. RoCo is just such a turnstile that I think he'd actually be the one that gets targeted in some cases.

I get what you are saying... they could just screen a lockdown guy... or target a bad player... but maybe that guy can disrupt the action and you would at least make them move down the food chain a bit to target the guy they want.

I do like getting a disruptor... just wish RoCo wasn't so bad individually.

I like Smart because he’s great in every situation. He’d be our guy to matchup against Curry, LeBron, and also be infinitely better than most of our guys in rotation. If he’s as gettable as he seems, the Jazz need to be on that.

I see and have voiced the same concerns about Roco, but I do still think he’s a very good defender that would add a ton to our team. He’s exactly the type of guy you want against a team like GSW who is going to put us in a permanent scramble.

We’re going to be hung out to dry in the playoffs with the roster the way it is. I really do think a trade is necessary to prevent what’s happened two years ago from happening again.

With all the smoke around Ingles and Smart individually and the obvious FO connections….you have to wonder if that was the deal being discussed.

Maybe not a direct 1:1, GSW was also heavily rumored. Ingles -> GSW, Smart -> UTA, Moody? -> BOS.

I think it's more likely it was just Ingles to GS and Moody to Utah. Boston or Smart was never mentioned in any of the rumors in the offseason, but Moody and GS were mentioned a lot.

If you would’ve just thrown in a 10$ tip they might’ve given you a conditional first round pick, idiot!!

This team needs Herbert Jones

draft one yourself. that's the only way to do it. there was Dort and Tate from 2019, McDaniels and Bane from 2020, and Jones from last year. Ones you missed the chance to draft them it's pretty much over. Pels would rather keep him over Zion at this point.

I begged us to take him this year and the idea was mostly mocked. He's exactly the type guy we need.

Trade Butler, Doke and a first for him. Use our exception to take a bad contract too if we have to. NOLA is out of it this year. If Zion comes back, he probably takes Herb's minutes.

Be bold. Go get Herb.

they would give you hart if that's the offer. jones is on a real cheap contract and they own his bird. won't need to pay him until 2024. as of now he just gives them so much more than his actual trade value...... there's simply no team that would be willing to give up their young stars while they were still on their rookie scale contract unless it's for one of the all-star/all-nba guys.

Let's not overreact. He's not a star. He's a valuable player, but not a franchise guy. He's a valuable cog for a good team. NOLA is not a good team.

Does he even fit on the floor with Zion and Val? Herb really isn't a floor spacer. NOLA might see a good opportunity to get another future asset and shed a contract they really don't want (Temple for example).

We just gonna let teams score 150 pts a night on us?
We would have to change our identity. If Rudy went, we would build around Don which means we would probably put a bunch of perimeter defenders around him. Probably have a couple guys like Whiteside in addition to a true stretch 5.

I really don't want to consider this yet. There are trades out there that can help this team without having to blow it up like this.

well he's definitely their franchise guy. have you watched any pels game recently? the kids been seeing his minutes in the high 30s, leading his teams in minutes played on several occasions. he isn't exactly a floor spacer but he's a willing shooter who currently knocks down his threes at 34%. he's basically Jonathan Isaac and would you consider a healthy Isaac the franchise guy for Orlando?

again like I said, no team has ever traded away their young stars while they were still on their rookie contract unless you offer them one of the all-stars or all-nba players. a pick or two and one of our garbage min guys simply won't be enough to get it done. just find me the one occasion where this has ever happened.

Jalen Smith. The backup big for Phoenix that doesn't get much playtime, but has shown TREMENDOUS upside is my pipedream. Can play the 5 or the 4, as well. He showed his abilities a few games ago, but is getting minimal playtime tonight, in a blowout.
