Transgender and sports

But the 12 worst NBA players would destroy the 12 best WNBA players every time.
It's a good thing then, I suppose, that the 12 worst NBA players are not actually transgender females.

If they were, and they were transitioning, then they would not even be the 12 worst NBA players.

I might have to say this several times.

Transgender women are not just dudes in drag. There is a difference. There is a very very real difference. If you don't know this, then you should stop engaging in this discussion.

EDIT: You should continue to engage in this discussion, but you should do so to learn.

Would you feel the same if this was someone born female competing against males and dominating?
If women were better than men at sports then yes.

What about the someone who is born with both genitalia? Or someone who has what's know as "XX male syndrome," where a person has 2 X, no Y, but still has a penis? Or any one of a myriad of other possibilities that go beyond male/female?

Why, by the way, should the determining factor be a penis or lack thereof? Is the penis in any way important in the sport? Not in many of them, I would suggest.
Its not the penis obviously lol. Its what comes along with being a male. Males are better at sports than females. This obvious. If you disagree go ahead and google the fastest female sprinter time vs male. most weight lifted by female vs male. Longest distance thrown of a javelin or discus male vs female. Google how fast serena williams can hit a tennis ball vs nadal. Literally anything.

I take my daughter to school everyday (she is in kindergarten). We arrive about 10 minutes early so she can play with her classmates on the playground. They play tag often. The girls cant keep up with the boys. They are on different levels of speed even at that age.

I guarantee you, a team of WNBA stars would destroy a team comprised of any 5 of us on this board. Heck, Lisa Leslie alone in her prime could probably beat us 1-on-5.
No would have ever heard of lisa leslie if there wasn't a wnba. She couldn't come close, not even a tiny bit close to playing in the actual in nba. Now i would ask you this question. Why not?

Nah, just answer the question.
I did. As of right now i have no problem if women want to compete against men. If women were better than men at sports then I would have an issue. They aren't though so its a straw man question.

Okay so don't then.

There are sports they are better at. There have been women who are dominate in their sport even compared to men. Off the top of my head I know of long distance runners, divers, ping pong players, and equestrian athletes that dominated even men.

Hey, you're the one who brought up the penis.

Google fastest mile by a man and fastest mile by a woman. I bet the man time is faster. Do 20 miles. 50. Whatever you want. I dont know if there is a way to prove or track male vs female in equestrian or ping pong but if you can show me im all ears. Diving makes sense being that it seems like a smaller splash would make for a better score and women are smaller. Equestrian too i guess. Less weight on the horses back (the horse seems more important than the "athlete" in this sport but idk)

I do know that there is actual factual undeniable data available on many olympic events like shotput, discuss, javelin, any kind of racing, long jump, triple jump etc etc. Men are better in all those things. Why do you think that is?

Edit: I googled fastest marathon time for men and for women. Spoiler alert, the men were dominant.

How many people would have heard of Kobe Bryant if there wasn't an NBA?

I mean, that is seriously one of the dumbest things I've read on this site. I know what you're trying to say, but.... you're saying it badly.

Speaking of Kobe, he mentioned 3 WNBA players who were playing at the time who could keep up in the NBA. Not be stars, but keep up. There was Diana Taurisi, Elena Delle Donne, and... I don't remember the other one. But I think it would be safe to say that Kobe knew more about basketball than you or me. And that was just 3 who played at the time off the top of his head.

One mile isn't long distance. Here is a link about how women are better at very long distances and why.
https://www.insider.com/women-are-f... study that tracked, beyond) the 200 mile mark.

There are definitely sports women are better at. I mentioned ping pong where the top women is from China and she dominates everyone. I watched the matches between her and the guys team and its not competitive. Women tend to have better fine motor skills. While men tend to be stronger and more physically dominate. I am sure if you actually care you could find some other sports that women have dominated at. There are also exceptional women who exceed above others by a lot. Just like there are exceptional men who are much much much better than their competition, and its not fair. It's never fair. Basically any human born over 7 feet tall that's healthy and wants to play professional basketball can.

All of that is besides the point though of my question. Its a hypothetical question, even if no women did. If someone came along and did how would you feel? Would it be the same opinion.

For me the transgender thing is a non issue. There are very few people who are transgendered who want to compete in sports. No one is going to go through that just to play sports. No one is going to be juwanna man or whatever that dumb movie was. They have gone through so much already I think allowing them to compete is no big deal, especially at the HS level. At the HS level it has nothing to do with winning so it really does not matter. Sports are never a fair playing field. I cant compete with many people, that's okay. Its not even sports, everything is that way. Such is life.

If they did away with mens and womens teams and simply had a kearns high school basketball team (not a mens and womens team), a kearns high tennis team, soccer team, etc then there would be no women in sports. Why do you think that is?
Because we segregate men and women socially. Why is there a men's wrestling team (as opposed to men's matches and women's matches on a single team)? Same for track, swimming, etc.

@One Brow do you think any male (not ones that are transitioning or have transitioned) should be allowed to compete in females sports?
By the way, you do realize South Park doesn't depict reality, right? Men don't just jump into women's sports willy-nilly, and ********* don't grow on the backs of mice.

So lets say every sports governing body decides sports should be genderless.
Has that happened anywhere, or are you just fear-mongering?

I think it would suck that my daughter wouldn't have a chance to compete at a high level in any sports.
I think that if one sports body decided to go genderless, other sports bodies supporting gendered competition would appear to take their place. Why do you think that would not happen?

I can see that you will never convince me that humans born as males and humans born as females should compete together against each other and I will never convince you they shouldn't. We are done here.
By the way, I thought you were done. If you are sure there is no way you will be convinced, why are you continuing the conversation?

One result of a quick google. Looks like generally women's world records are about 85 to 90% that of men's world records for same sports. Didn't dig deep enough to find the sports that are tilted the other way. Just grabbed the first link that looked interesting.

This is so obviously a skewed web site, pushing the anti-trans in sports agenda, but the charts are interesting, as is the concept, in the context of where this conversation has been going.

I found the 400 and 800 LC (Long Course) swimming marks really telling. Both have one lone woman stripe toward the top. Both of those stripes are Katie Ledecky, the greatest female swimmer in history. Even the greatest female swimmer in history would not have even made the podium if swimming against High School boys in the 400, and couldn't have done better than 3rd in the longer 800 race. No other biologically female good enough to qualify for the Olympics got even close to good High School male swimmers.
