Game Thread Apr 21, 2022 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Mavericks - Game 3

Added to Calendar: 04-21-22

jazz have lost 10 of their last 17 playoff games. I think they were probably the odds-on favorite in all 17 games?

As I said in my earlier post, Jazz made a run off of a novelty. Mavs called a timeout, calmed things, got into their isos early, crashed the glass and were back to gaining ground. Whole point of my post was that it was unsustainable and after the initial run, Mavs, again, were the better team.

We played the same switch scheme with Rudy and they attacked Mitchell, tell me why they wouldn't attack Mitchell with Paschall in? How much difference would Paschall make in those 2 situations where Mitchell gave up 2 easy baskets to Dinwiddie?
Only way to know if it was sustainable is to try it. I was sustained while the lineup of Mitchell, bogey, Clarkson, house, and paschal were on the court together. Why are you against using the lineup that worked more often?

That **** is nuts.
Reminds of Terrence Mann
Ha! Exactly absolutely exactly what my bro said. We keep waiting for these role players to cool off. But they won’t. All the shots they’re making are practice shots. Any scrub would look like the second coming of AI or Dirk if given our terrible defense.

Royce played 32 minutes tonight...he had 2 points and 4 rebounds, he didn't take a single shot but passed up many, he also got cooked all night on defense.

Rudy and Bojan have value.

Clarkson probably too.

Conley had a little because he's practically a big expiring.

Realistically, Conley stays because he has more value to us than elsewhere. I don't like having Don, Conley and Clarkson, but if we trade Rudy, we need all the weapons we can get if we are going with a more small and spread approach

by the time Conley can be shopped as a big expiring, DM is far gone. Rudy too. We are stuck with Conley as long as we are still pretending to contend.

I haven’t been this down on the jazz since the Ty Corbin era. It’s time to blow this franchise up. They’ve been unwatchable for most of this year. I had low expectations this playoff. But even those low expectations were too high.

Would it have been better to have played GS and be torn apart by 30+ every game?

I don’t think you can build around Donovan. He’s inefficient, small, turnover prone, bad in the clutch, doesn’t play defense. If he’s not scoring, he has no value to the team. We should just go big and back to being a dominant defensive team.

Yes. Everyone is laughing at the fact the Jazz are getting annihilated by Dallas without their best player. We're a ****ing joke.

Don needs to be the smallest one on the team, period. Conley and Royce need to go
No one is gonna give us some legit starters in exchange for our below average starters. We already burnt way too many assets that we could've used for an upgrade.

Well, if you could answer my question, I would answer yours.

By "building around" someone you mean surround with that player with the necessary pieces/supporting cast to maximize his talent.

We technically aren't building around anyone per that definition.

Losing in the play in suddenly seems like a better option than repeatedly being humiliated.
One thing you have to give this team, they got a lot of quit in them.

Next game start Conley, Mitchell, House, Bogey, Pascall. Unless the jazz just want to wave the white flag we can’t **** around and try to spare everyone’s ego. If Conley continues to play this way bench him for Clarkson too. If this team loses to a mavs team without Luka it’ll honestly be one of the more humiliating losses in the modern NBA. They will never live it down. And these guys need to start playing like their reputations are at stake, because they are. And Snyder needs to give them a chance and go with the small ball rotation. Everyone knows it is our only chance.
