What's new

The Knicks are at the Cross Section of Hope and Desperation

Yeah a couple 1st rounders and some mediocre players is exactly what I suggested. I mean if you consider Fournier and Noel mediocre.
Quickly and Toppin are worth much more in a trade. They tried to give Fournier away to anyone that wanted to take him at the deadline and found no luck.

I would be shocked if the opening offer wasn’t #11, 2023 Knicks pick, 2023 Dallas pick, and at least one more future pick plus Quickley, Toppin, Grimes and whatever contracts we preferred to match.

He may not play much defense but he’s won more playoff series in the last 5 years than the Knicks have won in 20 years. He’s averaged 30 a game in the playoffs and is a multi time all star. . .

Hold on, I hear Thibs is just licking his chops right now, another chance to go all in for a six foot nothing combo guard that can't play defense, LOL!
I also this post in light of the fact that the Knicks are obviously falling all over themselves to try and get Donovan already. The front office is run by his agents agency… they hired the assistant coach he worked with for years as an associate head coach… the had world wide Wes at the Dallas game with Julius Randle… but yeah they totally are not trying to get the kid… sure.

It’s hilarious how little people think Donovan will get us. We are talking ground breaking ****. Jrue Holiday went for two unprotected picks and pick swaps in the two years in between those picks.

I think we may be selling ourselves short here. We may be able to get Barrett, #11, 2023/2025/2027 unprotected picks plus the Dallas pick.

I completely agree. Thought it was just me but I felt as I read the thread we are really selling ourselves short here. If the players on the knicks are worth so much then why does their team suck?

Salaries would have to match. Fournier would have to be added. May be considered negative value, so that could affect any possible trade.

At the very least, the Jazz need to send a double agent and tell the Knicks to tank this year and build assets for the future Don trade. I think the ideal scenario (out of all the realistic **** scenarios), is that the Knicks stink next year, we're mediocre with Don's version of the Jazz, and then the two teams agree to their Wiggins-Love type trade at the draft.

I agree and probably would even go further. Don is the most valuable player to the Knicks in the league besides the Gianns/Luka/Jokic types. They likely see him as a top 10 or even top 8 asset in the league. That's why I want to play hardball with the Knicks. When Anthony Davis publicly demanded a trade and said he would pretty much only play for LAL, the Pelicans didn't settle. They held up the middle finger and used that desperation against the Lakers, dragging it out and getting a huge trade package.

If it were me, I'd tell the Knicks they don't have enough. I'm telling them, **** you we're not trading Don. Find a way to get a top 3 pick (or equivalent asset) and then we'll start talking. There's no premium asset in the trade you mentioned because the Knicks don't have it. At some point these super distant first round picks have diminishing returns in a trade package....you need the premium asset. The Pacers got Haliburton out of freaking Sabonis, and he's a better asset than Barrett and the 11th pick combined. Even if my ultimate plan is to trade Don, I'm telling everyone to kick rocks until they can pony up a real superstar trade package with current and future value.

Thibs ain’t gonna be there much longer… he also had his best run with a score first PG… I think you are really selling Donovan super short. If you think Fournier and two firsts is an offer we’d be lucky to get them you haven’t paid attention.
Fournier and Noel and I didn’t say lucky, I said reasonable. I understand that it’s difficult for fans to be objective even in the face of clear proof to the contrary.

Well he also had the 3 time DPOY covering his back which the knicks did not. Your scenarios are becoming more reasonable and plausible but I still don’t believe Thibs would bite.

Please don’t distort what I said! Where does my scenario involving two Knick firsts indicate a lack of interest. Of course they want him for a price, hometown kid and all.

Thibs ain’t the GM smarty… the GM does what he wants… He acquired Reddish and Thibs refused to play him… stop thinking Thibs is the one in control here.

And he was also the engine that lead the number one offense in spite of a limited offensive player…you are loud wrong here… we’d do so much better than you are saying if we moved Donovan.

You guys are acting like the Knicks organization is a total joke. Moreover that they’re going to continue to make the same mistakes ad nauseum. So you’re saying that the GM is going to trade for another player even if Thibs refuses to play him.o_O

So he alone was the engine right? #1 offense entire season right? And how about playoffs? So I guess coach had no hand in devising it either.

And you are acting like the GM thinks he was wrong and Thibs was right. If they had to decide between Thibs and Donovan I know who they’d choose.
