The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

If you're a GM, would you rather be the Magic or the Jazz?

Magic: Great young players, but arent winning yet. Will probably have a top 5 pick this year. Own Chicago's pick this year and Denver's pick in 2025. Both are top 5 protected.

I would probably go with the magic. I think Paulo has superstar upside and I love Franz and Suggs as well.

I’d much rather be the team that is the #1 seed in the West with 15 first-round picks in the next 7 years plus 3 pick swaps.

The one thing that maybe we don't understand as Jazz fans is how hard it is to move from perennially losing to winning games. We have been super spoiled. For every team that gets the rookie they want and transitions to winning, there are more that flounder.

Look at the Pels. They have been given the world and the have done squat with it. The Kings can't get it together an a whole list of Eastern conference scrub teams never go anywhere.

You mortally wound the Jazz by liquidating their stars, they shrug it off. There has to be something more than getting a star in the draft, and whatever it is the Jazz have it so I would rather be them than Orlando.

I think this is a very interesting question and I'm not quite sure my answer. It's kind of a philosophical question related to what's been discussed on this board throughout the off season.

Orlando has what looks like a potential future MVP candidate in Banchero as well as other very promising young players. They are also in great position to maybe draft a generational talent. They have to be excited about their future, but none of it is guaranteed. It's easy to see a championship in their future, but so much still has to go right, and probably won't.

The Jazz are really good presently. I don't think anybody knows quite how good they are and how long this will last. Yet, with the understanding that you need a top 10 player to win a championship, it's hard to imagine a likely way that we aquire one. Presently the Jazz are The story in the NBA. They are amazingly fun and represent everything good about basketball.

It's not quite so simple as present vs future, especially because of our treasure trove of picks, but it's still interesting.

To me it's clearly Utah.

It would just be so much fun to have all those extra draft picks to play with.

It really depends on where our 2023 picks land… The question assumes Orlando adds a top 5 pick… adding Scoot, Amen, Wemby to Paolo, Franz and crew is pretty appealing… especially if we end up with no lotto picks this year cuz Minny and Utah make the playoffs. Other than Lauri what true long term building blocks do we have?

We’ve had some defensive luck and really haven’t had any injuries yet… so time will tell where we finish. If you told me we ended up being like the Derozan Spurs I wouldn’t be surprised… we have the extra picks that can come through but I doubt we yield Brown and Tatum like the Celtics did with them. I’m confident we can find another building block if we get two picks in the teens this year (or better)

Every time I watch this TWolves team I am shocked at how bad they are. They are horrendous. It's like last year's Jazz once they got a 20 point lead except that they're always down by 10. Ant, Towns, Russell are just a nightmare leadership trio on that team. Even when they have pretty numbers in the box score it is blatantly obvious they stink when you watch them play.

Pretty much. They are shockingly bad.

T-Wolves offense is so ugly to watch. Not sure how they fix it, but they could definitely use more shooting.

Thinking Wolves would still be bad if they did not do the Gobert trade
Cannot blame Gobert for this

Even when they're on a run, it feels like a bad team going on a run. They're just chucking up **** on offense and not defending anything. They might get some buckets and lucky misses from the other team, but it's junk. Their disorganization on both ends reminds me of the Rockets. They are more talented than the Rockets....but they suck just as bad at playing organized basketball. Basically a pick up game out there.

I'm not sure If I have ever watched a team with worse vibes than the Wolves. Maybe the Lakers, but at least some of their fringe players are scrappy and positive energy. Everyone on the Wolves just looks so embarrassed to be part of the team.

Their offense in particular is the thing I’d be most worried about. I’m really not sure how they are going to fix it. They don’t have very good shooters and Russell is the exact opposite type of PG they need. They have zero future assets to improve themselves as well.
