Game Thread Nov 14, 2023 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Trail Blazers (Tournament)

Added to Calendar: 11-14-23

Yeah mr heroball Clarkson.
Who's team this Jazz team is, is it Lauri Markkanen's team or Jordan Clarkson's team.

Lauri is Jazz allstar so it should be Lauri who's scoring 10+ points per quarter not Clarkson.
Lauri is Batman Clarkson is Robin and that's how it should be.
I don’t really care who leads the team in points. If simone top scored and we win that’s all that matters. But I guess you are only here for Lauri

I took it as putting someone in a chokehold and dragging them is worse than someone displaying a gun on social media. I agree.
Ja's gun stuff goes beyond social media though. The social media thing was like when you do something against the rules on probation

Anybody have some Key highlights? I’ve read that he tossed some nice assists but haven’t seen any of them posted on social media yet

Key had a bunch of great passes for wide open shots that could have ended up in AST, in addition to the ones that went in. He's not flashy but he knows where to be and when to pass.

This is not the draft class to get a top pick

This is exactly the draft to have a top pick in as if we don’t we don’t have a first and rebuilding teams can’t afford not to have a top pick and add to depth.

Why not have a pick we aren’t winning ****!! In the end this team is better off having a pick then not.

Loved the total team effort. Despite Lauri struggling a bit and our 3 ball not dropping, we looked like we were going to win this game right from the start.

Few pointers:
- We gotta get Kessler back.... and back to form. Lauri wrestling with Ayton wasnt it, and Collins cannot defend true bigs. Dont know if he had a bad shooting day by chance or if the wrestling part hurt his shooting but it was all over the place.
- Despite the night looking rough for Lauri, he still had 21/9. I sometimes wonder how on earth that just happens.
- JC has really settled down ever since Keyonte took the start. Keyonte slows down the pace like a real PG and doesnt spaz at all, which is exactly what we needed.
- I feel like Keyonte should have had 10+ assists. Im gonna go check the tracking numbers once they are up and post them.
- Sexton finally got out of his rut and posted his best game thus far imo. Kept his head up, didnt spaz constantly and got 7 assists instead of bulldozing for a blocked shot at the rim. Team high +14 and stuffed the stat sheet.
- Ochai 2nd positive game in a row. Didnt hit a 3 but did just about everything else well and looked like a menace on defense at times. Only 1 foul also!!

In an interview with Locke, Sexton said he watched film and was told his plowing to the basket wasn't the best move. Said Hardy told him that if he doesn't have the shot, get rid of the ball. Sexton apparently listened.

Doesn't he normally watch film?

Lauri is used to have his shot a bit off after extended breaks and in his case it is sometimes few nights that does iit. I was wondering in the start of 2nd quarter how can this team afford their best scorer get 0 shots and almost 0 touches through 4 minutes. Then there was a timeout and JC was resting and Lauri started getting more looks. First off he bricked quite few but found his shot for the 4th and sealed the game.

They had quite a busy stretch so I think the film analysis was minimal and probably focused on the defense prior to our break before the Blazers game. Every player should watch their own tape though, and analyze their play on both ends.

Sexton does seem like a guy who needs to get verbal feedback, but he also accepts it.

He has looked so much better the last couple games. Despite missing his 3s this game he was very good and I am glad he got rewarded with more minutes. This was one of our better guard games this season. Clarkson with only 1 turnover makes me very happy and Keyonte had a nice game.

The team needs to get him more touches even if he isnt taking shots the ball at least needs to go to his hands, especially with how much gravity he has. Part of that is on him though.
