Potential Trade Targets

Agree with a lot of this... the thought has occurred to me that JC has survived several cleaning house moments and signed with us twice. I think there is like a 50/50 shot he finishes his contract with us. The guard rotation with Dunn/Sexton/Geroge/JC is far from perfect... but its not broken. I just have a hard time seeing us get the value DA wants for him apparently.
I'm going to post something about this in my minutes thread a little later

Yep next time you should lead with something like we won't know how these trades look until we start trying to win. Though that is also something kind of obvious too

That is literally what that sentence says. What it does not say “will the Jazz try to win”. There is no possible way you can interpret that as a question to whether or not the Jazz will try to win eventually. You are either being obtuse on purpose or literally have the reading comprehension of worse than a child.

Oh I comprehended what you meant but responded to what you wrote.
I like accuracy and what your wrote appeared to be hyperbole to paint the front office in a bad light. You wrote: "at some point you do actually have to try to win something."

I mean duh. Everyone knows that the team and front office will start trying to win and prioritizing wins at some point. Why even type that out? Right now they are in asset accumulation mode less than 2 years in to a complete and total teardown of the roster.

You literally responded to my statement as if I said it was a question of IF they would try to win. Only a complete idiot could interpret that statement like that.

It was never a question of IF the Jazz will try to win like your response. It’s a statement saying WHEN they try to win, they can be judged. I give them an incomplete grade until that point. I must say the point at which I will grade them. In order to specify that I will wait until they try to win, I must say it. That’s how language works. If I said I give them an incomplete grade, but never mentioned when I will actually grade them, you could not know what I meant.

If I said I will withhold judgement on TH until next year, I just say communicate that it’s next when I will do that. It is not a question of whether or not next year will happen. It is a statement saying I will wait until next year and I must say next year to make that statement. It’s different if I said next year, two years, three years. If you want to specify when you will do something you must say when you will do it.

Anywho for those who are feeling impatient and thinking the jazz are doing the wrong thing im just curious if there are other examples of teams who get rid of like 80% of their roster and less than 2 years later are making big moves to get better quickly.
There might be as I dont really follow the rest of the nba that much but Im curious if anyone has any examples.

Btw, @Handlogten's Heros , can you tell me your best guess on how and when could we try to be targeting to get Deni Avdija, as you told me he was one of your targets in the future? I was also just checking his contract, which is really team friendly, so it would not even hurt too much to pay like a bit for him, bc his contract is so good.

If his potential would not fulfill as it's best, he would still be an asset that holds a value well. How much his kinda player would cost? Wizards ownership seems to be in hunger to acquire more 1st rnd picks for future drafts, and before he Really breaks out, it might be able to catch him. The potential of Deni imo is at least #4 option in a really good team, possibly #3 option

The more I consider the moves we made, the more it feels like Sexton was close to being traded.

We were clearly sellers looking for assets over short term success. Collins value has never been higher and may never be. The Lakers have a short timeline with lebron.

If the Lakers had offered their 2029 unprotected 1st, Russell for Collin Sexton I think Ainge would have been very tempted. The Lakers got protections last time so perhaps they offered 2029 lottery protected or something like that.

Also, Russell is not an expiring contract (ainge values) and he was playing well prior to the deadline, otherwise it could have easily happened.

Zanik gave a fake interview (Roundball Roundup) about the DL deals and other topics. Didnt even hint to any plans going forward, but I got a strong sense that the trades were as much about the fact that they liked the return value as they were about getting BOTH Hendricks and Sensabaugh playing time.

He specifically mentioned that the only player that was under contract of those traded was Ochai, and that Toronto really wanted him. Made it sound like they didnt necessarily want to punt on him this fast, but at the end of the day they wanted the asset more.

The list of topics was actually pretty good... like they talked about Kessler expectations vs reality this year, Keyonte good and bad things they've seen, Collins deal and even touched on Preston and the 2 ways. Unfortunately the questions were kind of "non-questions" as much as the answers were "non-answers". He did mention that Keyonte has had to go back to the tape and watch his body language.

Here is the interview if someone else wants to waste 30 minutes of their life:

It was a great interview and very transparent and insightful

If we keep our pick I think you can offer it and it’s pretty valuable for Wiz. I think we might be able to accomplish a few things in one deal if Wiz are willing to take Collins in the deal. Something like a top 10 pick Collins and another pick for Deni and Kispert. I think most here would consider that pretty rich but it’s something I’d consider.

Please share the insights you learned.
Not going to go back and re-listen for timestamps, but when I I listened I felt like it gave me an insight into the FO mindset and vibe.

I really have no idea what you people are wanting team officials to say. They arent going to come out and tell you everything straight. Got to listen between the lines. It was a quality interview and calling it a "fake" interview is just out of line imo.

No need for timestamps. Just give us any new insights, please.

Also a reality check:
When you get interviewed by a person who works for you, its always a fake interview.

No that Laker pick was apparently never on the table. All the noise coming from them is they want to include 3 FRP's for a star such as Trae or Don this offseason. They can trade their '24 + '29 + '31 picks but would need to make the actual selection for the other team this draft due to the Stepien rule. There's probably no way they can get Don but Trae is a klutch client. 3 FRP's + Reaves + Christie/JHS +DLo might at least get a meeting with the Hawks.

Donovan will have a chance to be really influential on his next destination. If he says I want NY or LA then everyone else knows its a rental decision. So in that case I could see 3 first/Reaves being the winning offer.

I mean, I think everyone knows its NY or LA at this point. I guess Brooklyn could try and do something wild, but I think they will puss out from the risk of the embarrassment of NYK stealing a guy they just paid out the *** for.

Some rumblings today that Trae could be available in the off-season.
Landry Fields was asked "Can you envision the team without Trae Young in the future?" and he said: "I haven't really sat down and thought about that. I focus on whats in front of us."

I dont know if he is honest, stupid or a horrible politician... but that was the wrong answer in any case.
