2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Semi random, but what do people think of the idea of trading Keyonte for Anthony Black? We know Hardy loved Black during the draft but we know Mosley doesn’t love him. Corey freaking Joseph played more than Black during the playoffs.

I would be all for it. I don't know how far Anthony Black can develop but its clear that Orlando isn't all that commited to him. Black has little chance of breaking into the starting lineup as they already have Suggs and KCP at the starting guard spots. As you said, they played Corey Joseph more than Black in the playoffs.

Orlando is in desperate need of more guard scorer types. Keyonte straight up for Black works financially. Would Orlando want more?

Could do:

Jazz trades: Clarkson, Keyonte

Orlando trades: Anthony Black, Corey Joseph, Gary Harris

ORL is in a money crunch, they likely won’t be wanting Clarkson included in this trade and would prefer to decline team options on Harris.

Here is a couple things the Jazz could add to the trade to entice ORL to make this Key-George swap or add picks to it.

1. Cole Anthony into Jazz MLE. If the Jazz operate as an over the cap team, Anthony will fit into their MLE and give ORL salary relief.

2. Sensabaugh for Howard. This would save ORL additional money over the next two years and give them a reliable shooter. They desperately need a shooter and Howard is not it. It would be hilarious for ORL to trade the 6th and 11th picks of the 2023 draft for the 16th and 28th picks, but it would help them win more. Don’t think a FO would ever admit to their failures like this though.

Reports that Philadelphia mostly wants to swap PG with a winning player to move down, but I have no interest in a PG/Lauri swap to move from 5 to 3. This trade ropes in Houston to provide the #10 for Philadelphia to move from to. Houston needs more shooting and brings in two 40+% shooters in place of FVV, while moving from 10->21 but some fringe seconds. Maybe a Brice to grease the wheels to Houston?

IDK how much Houston values FVV for his culture and pace, leaves them a bit of playmaking hole. They did extend his team option extension date which may signal they are exploring trades. Maybe they are still high on Reed. But as we target premium assets I would really like to secure #3 and #5 this year. FVV could potentially be swapped with a Murray or a Lillard to help secure the tank this year.

How far off do you guys think this is?

I'd assume that Houston values Playoff Fred.

I don't need an unprotected pick in a Dame for Collins/Sexton trade. I guess the only thing that would prevent me from doing something like that is if we can get more draft compensation by trading them elsewhere, but all we'd get is seconds anyways.
I’s be fine doing it for swaps. The Bucks just don’t have assets, and there’s always the potential that a swap hits big. Any increased value in our picks down the road is good business. There’s a risk for sure, but the Jazz aren’t getting a big trade without taking back terrible salary that screws up their timeline further. If I did make a trade with Milwaukee for Dame, I’d want probably want a couple of swaps in that deal.

Fischer on Stein's Substack says that the 76ers are not trading George.

I'd expect that to be their public position all the way until George gets traded.
I think Philly is in a weird spot because if Embiid is hurt you are rebuilding... in which case Maxey, McCain, #3 is better than giving up the asset to dump PG and get better now. I expect they may trade back to collect more assets but everything is on hold because of Embiid.

PG is also very likely to have a better year than he did last year unless he is washed. Right now I think they are trading him at washed value if they moved him. May as well ride it out and see if they can get one or both guys healthier.

I think they will only likely move completely out of the lotto if they are going after Giannis.

It's the East though. You could screw around just swapping Lauri for PG and bumble your way into a 4 seed even if Embiid is broken.

I'm fully expecting half of the East to tank next year.

Attendees at the NBA Draft Combine were speculating a lot about the Jazz trading Collins, Sexton, and multiple picks for Trae Young after how bad the draft lottery went for the Jazz, but Lowe thinks it's ******** and stupid.

Well the is officially my least favorite trade proposal so far.

I get that tanking isn't guaranteed as we saw this lottery, but I want nothing to to with half measures where we trade picks this summer. A Lauri/Trae core with the youngins wouldn't even be favored to make the playin in the West next year, probably not even top 12. We are set up to be the only disaster class team in the West right now.

Agreed, Trae Young automatically guarantees that you will not have an elite team. So why would you ever spend assets for that?

Here’s one I’ve been kicking around in my head for the past week or so. Three team trade - Jazz, Spurs, Bucks
fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap_h_5-23-2025_7-22-34AM.jpeg
Spurs get Lauri Markkanen and the draft rights to Gabriele Procida.

Bucks get Collin Sexton, Harrison Barnes, Jordan Clarkson and Julian Champagnie.

Jazz get Damian Lillard, Keldon Johnson and more draft capital. From the Spurs, the Jazz move up from 2 to 5, and get 14 (they keep 21.) They also move up from 53 to 38 and get their 2026 2nd round pick back. From the Bucks, they get pick swaps in 2030 (after Portland) and 2031 (top 1 protected).

Jazz draft Dylan Harper, Carter Bryant, Hansen Yang and a couple draft and stash or 2-way players at 38 & 43. Spurs get Lauri (for the value of two first round picks and two 2nd round picks) and still draft one of TreVJKon. Bucks get 4 rotation players to replace Lillard this year at essentially the same salary and at potentially no cost (depending on how the swaps turn out.)
