I want Tre at 5 and either Noah or Fleming at 21
That would be an elite draftI want Tre at 5 and either Noah or Fleming at 21
Anybody else notice that Edgecombe actually tries to finish with his left hand when driving left... hell... he even has some left handed floaters. There isn't a ton of craft from what I'm seeing but he does use both his hands on drives.
VJ has a long ways to go with his craft around the basket.
His first step beating people off the dribble is his biggest weakness though. Can he improve and create advantages for himself in isolation and off the dribble?Anybody else notice that Edgecombe actually tries to finish with his left hand when driving left... hell... he even has some left handed floaters. You don't need "craft" that much when you can just fly to the basket and dunk on peoples' heads.
Maybe as someone who is just getting to the rim off 2nd actions when the paint is clearer, but if he wants to be a primary and a creator, he will have to learn to finish without dunking. You don't need "craft" that much when you can just fly to the basket and dunk on peoples' heads.
This would be a good bet if the Magic drafted with any type of reasoning.I bet my bottom dollar the Magic take Fleming if he's available at 16.
He fits their fetish (length) and their need (shooting), and being nearly 21, could also fit their current timeline and ready to play now.
I'm not sure his actual first step is the problem. I think his handle needs improvement and he does need adding some craft. I think opponents played his drive first, second and third and then were worrying about him pulling up so that's another reason his first step doesn't pop as much as you'd expect. His first step beating people off the dribble is his biggest weakness though. It all just depends on who you believe could improve or become something they aren’t currently with the information we have on hand.
Well, I say first step because he struggles to beat his man off the dribble.I'm not sure his actual first step is the problem. I think his handle needs improvement and he does need adding some craft. Remember Jeremy Evans? You don't need "craft" that much when you can just fly to the basket and dunk on peoples' heads.
Yeah... his handle is not horrible... it's probably good enough for secondary initiator, but if we want to project him as a star(Edwards type rather than Suggs type), he needs to work on it.I think some people are a little too harsh on his handle. They act as if he can’t dribble a basketball. He’s not NBA PG/lead initiator level, but it think he gets to the rim at a reasonable rate and his brute force style/athleticism allows him to get rim attempts/FT’s from situations that few others can.
Also, just going to put it out there, but he does have a lot of the underlying statistical indicators that stars have. Draft models aren’t perfect, but I am a big believer that certain indicators can say a lot about a player.
VJ does do a lot on the floor to impact winning for sure. If you’re strictly going for better all-around player he should definitely be probably 3rd overall in the draft.Yeah... his handle is not horrible... it's probably good enough for secondary initiator, but if we want to project him as a star(Edwards type rather than Suggs type), he needs to work on it.
Agreed on the indicators. And his rebound rate is pretty good too. It's one of the best in the draft for a guard. It's double that of Tre for example, despite not being as long. His stocks are through the roof too...
