Just watched this locked on jazz episode with Lief filling in for Locke. Watching the first ten minutes makes me wondering if Tre is being overlooked says Tre has better athletic traits than Ace. Might be able to play pg. on and off ball. Been a five star prospect his whole life but gets less attention than Ace and VJ. Life says he’d take Tre over Ace at either 3 or 5.
Well, Tre tested to have near VJ levels of athleticism in many of the tests. Frankly, it surprised me as I would judge him to be an average athlete according to the tape. I don't quite know what to make of it. He might have room to improve using his athletic trats that have been underutilized or he might just be a workout warrior type.
Take a couple inches off the vert... he sandbagged his standing reach. He looks and moves like a good athlete though, but it doesn't manifest on the court really in anything you typically see like stocks, rebounds, rim attempts, defense etc.Well, Tre tested to have near VJ levels of athleticism in many of the tests. I dont think he sandbagged his reach at all. If you watch the video of him, Ace, and Harper dunking, it's clear he has a massive vertical. He just isnt quick off the floor. I dont foresee him being some incredible downhill rim attacking athlete, but maybe he can be utilized off-ball at the rim for the occasional lob.Take a couple inches off the vert... he sandbagged his standing reach. Maybe he unlocks something and that stuff comes but there is a reason the analytical world clings to certain things like stocks/activity stats quite a bit.
It's so weird we live in this bubble on JFC Draft where Tre never draws fouls at all.
He drew fouls at a very decent rate.
Is this stat for Essengue correct? I was checking other top prospects' FTRate and the thing I'm looking at says... .800!!! Is this true? How?

Also thanks for proving my point.
lol... Tre standing reach is 8'5" height 6'4.75" and wingspan 6' 10.25.I dont think he sandbagged his reach at all. Tre's FTRate is the second lowest from players projected to go in the lottery. The only one with lower number here is Ace BaileyAgain, compared to what. You can very easily counter this argument. Just say what decent means here.
Free throw rates(in college) by some of the players being mentioned here:
- Tre Johnson .265
- Tyler Herro .235
- Jamal Murray .285
- Cam Thomas .440
- SGA .464
SGA was not the monster he is now in college, but as you can see even in his college stats you can see a certain level of aggression and foul drawing ability.
Was just looking at the vert measurements and loling cuz I was like "damn does McNeeley have bunnies" he has a 36.5 inch vert. Then I looked at the anthro... dude wins the Pat Connaughton award this year. Shade under 6-7 barefoot 6-8.5 wingspan... and an 8-3.5 standing reach lol.lol... Tre standing reach is 8'5" height 6'4.75" and wingspan 6' 10.25.
Kon standing reach 8'5.5" height 6'5" and wingspan 6'6.25"
Its just math. Myles Byrd with almost identical measurements (slightly smaller wingspan) came in 1.5" higher in standing reach.
He still has a good vert... but for comparison to others historically... go ahead and take an inch or two off it.
Players will have different reaches based on tons of factors. Tre is right there with everyone who is around his height/wingspan +/- 1-3 inches.lol... Tre standing reach is 8'5" height 6'4.75" and wingspan 6' 10.25.

Lebaron Philon is 4 inches shorter, 2 inch shorter standing reach... and miraculously has the same standing reach.
McNeeley was the obvious measurements manipulator at the combine! The moment I saw that 36.5 and I had seen him practically never leaving the ground in-game, I knew to go straight to his standing reach. This is grotesque manipulation if I've ever seen one....Was just looking at the vert measurements and loling cuz I was like "damn does McNeeley have bunnies" he has a 36.5 inch vert. It won't be plus 1-3 inches lol. Did you actually go look... its just not true. Its minues 1-2 inches... which is exactly what I said. Its okay... its still a great vert but he is not in VJ's class there.Players will have different reaches based on tons of factors.
