U guys overestimate Middleton severely. Most of u have him as a budding star. All he is is a role player with a chance to be a good role player.
i don't think that's what either of us are saying. I think we are saying that when he figures out the system, he will be awesome. The other players have a bunch more experience with this system now, and Burks is not really a system player anyways, as his strengths are creation of his own offense. When he is not injured, he will take some time and another training camp, and figure out how to apply his skills to the system. Quin will need to learn how to fit him in as well.Lots of good posts/discussion.
Only thing I disagree with is the posts from bline and bhodi saying he doesn't play in the system.
That's just bs

I'm convinced that if we are going to contend the future is:
Gobert(c)
Favors(pf)
Hayward(sf)
Superstar(sg)
maybe exum(pg)
or
Maybe Burks(sg) super mario?
superstar(pg)
Since our front court is set we need to double down at the 1 & 2 see who steps up. (sell Burke it ain't him)
either rock it in the draft or Maybe we can get a guy through a trade
I wouldn't blame DL for going all in the draft to move up and get mudiay even if it doesn't work out
option 2 draft super mario look to trade for pg / draft in 2016
I'm not sold on Burks as a starter, but i'd like to have the conversation with other Jazzfanz. Is it possible for a healthy Burks to become an offensive beast for us? Even if his defense isn't the strongest, I think Exum, Hayward, Favors, and Gobert would make up for it. Is it a terrible idea to bring in Carroll instead of a Mathews or Butler. A bench of Burke, Carroll, Hood, Booker is an aggressive bunch if you ask me.
Ultimately it doesn't matter what any of us think. Snyder and DL are completely sold on him. DL brought him up on his own despite Boler and Harpring not even asking about him (lol, dumbasses) and said he would be the team's biggest off season acquisition. You can tell DL loves Burks every time he talks about him and even when he's not being discussed, DL forces it. In terms of Quin, Burks has been penciled in firmly as a starter since the day QS was hired.
I think the one thing Quin and DL understand that the rest of us don't is just how bad that shoulder had been bothering Burks and just for how long. They get how special a healthy Alec Burks can be.
Matthews sounds nice to us fans, but I'm afraid Burks is the guy DL and Quin are looking at to lead the Jazz at SG for years to come.
Take it up with DL and Snyder. They're the ones who seem to be in love with the guy and they make the decisions. Maybe they see something the rest of us don't see.The shoulder explains offense-- but it's not an excuse for Burks getting beat on back-door cuts, fouling three point shooters, and average lateral foot speed

Either that or with Gobert and Favors protecting the rim, they simply see offense as the priority from the SG spot. I don't know. We'd have to ask them.Take it up with DL and Snyder. DL said it, not me.How often does a GM and first year coach bash a player? Not gush over one? Means nothing to me. They liked Kanter too.
I might be in the minority here, but I think what might hold Alec back is his willingness to play within the system. I think his biggest asset is his ability to attack the basket and draw fouls but with that ability comes a lot of opportunities he hasn't been able to capitalize on, fully, to this point.
If he fully buys in instead of focusing on getting his, this team could be the surprise of the league next year.
We'll see if the love lasts if the dude keeps playing mediocre defense

Let's see what Alec can do with the Gobert/Favors front court. I agree that he was not defending well to start the season, but to be fair the whole team was ****ting the bed before Alec got hurt.
I'm excited to see what he can do with it.
