Unironically, THT could be Dunn but he tries to cook too much. Dunn is like a less talented THT with 3x the brain.
Yeah, I see that. THT was trending towards getting his **** under control, but there was always going to be something. Dunn just does everything very predictably (on offense) that gives the team order and balance.

Smart, Fultz, Melton
No way to Smart.

He shoots too much.

The idea of upgrading Dunn with a similar player for me is getting a controlled player who is going to play within himself. That isnt Smart.

I'd also say no to Fultz since his game revolves more around scoring. Also scared to shoot and massively injury prone. Might be a downgrade from Dunn.

Not as versed in Melton.

Caruso or stay put IMO.

Like with Dunn, it will probably take him a few stops, many years, and an ideal situation to make it work.

You’re not going to find many starting level guards that shoot as less as Dunn. The big reason why Dunn shoots so little is because he’s not good enough. An upgrade over him would be someone who has the ability to do so.

Also, different teams different roles. Smart and Fultz would not be shooting as much with this team. Smart has been a lower usage guy for the majority of his career. Fultz is an excellent passer once he touches the paint and is big enough to defend either guard or even some wings.

I watched Smart at Boston. The things you say dont lineup.

Fultz can't say healthy. There is potential there, but no thank you

And yes, I'm aware finding the upgrade in the manor I'm saying is not going to produce a lot of options.

Which is why I'm saying Caruso or stay put.

I don’t care what your eyes think. Facts are indeed facts. Marcus smart was a below average usage player every single year in Boston.

Sure, but there are upgrades to talent and upgrades to fit. I think there is something to what the Jazz have from a balance standpoint (like the reason you bench THT for Dunn isnt because of talent, it's because of fit), so I would air on the side of trying to maintain that balance by looking for upgrades that maintain that current level of balance.
I'm not convinced of that with THT. I think there is more to it, but who knows.

Either way I still think we can upgrade anyone talent and fit wise.

Oh Dunn is plenty talented. He was a #5 pick. It's just that the bad version of his game (which we haven't seen much of lately) is outdated and inefficient.

He used to be a real 90's time machine PG with his post-ups, overdribbling, seeking contact and non-shooting. If he'd insisted on still playing that way, he'd be out of the league with no hope of returning.

The oddest thing about Dunn to me is that he can't attempt/make layups with momentum going to the rim. It's the most puzzling thing about him. He's athletic, he's long, he's a good ball-handler, he has nice touch on his push shots, so why can't he elevate towards the rim and put the ball on the glass for a layup?

Does Reed Shepperd fit this profile.
