Potential Trade Targets

i just read an article that listed lauri as a trade target for the kings. the proposed trade was harrison barnes, 1 FRP and 1 pick swap. the author went on to say this trade had a 50 percent chance of being completed. on planet delusional maybe. i hate sport writers who believe the jazz exist for the sole purpose of being a farm team for bigger markets.

I guess if they add Kegan Murray we might answer the phone.

Cavs also have registered their interest in Tech. We can get a first but our hot steak kind of started with him. I have mixed feelings but a cost controlled rookie contract may be better in the long term but you are more likely to draft a scrub. I don't know.

I wouldn’t go that far but to these teams that don’t have cap space him being a RFA this off-season is extremely valuable.
I doubt the Celtics would retain him with the salary mess they will have.

I dislike the idea of trading Simone because it signals we will pit patter around for another year. I feel as though the Jazz must move forward with Lauri or pivot, and it doesn't look like they will pivot away from Lauri so they need to move forward. OTOH, if Simone was on a different team, would we be looking to trade a pick for him? Probably not.

It kinda feels like the Jazz might just clean house with the vets and try to get their pick back once again. That's fine, but you need to actually try to put together a winner in the off season. No more wasted prime Lauri seasons please.

Celtics reporter just posted an article saying they are interested in Olynyk, Fontecchio and Dunn.
No surprise Boston is eyeing Olynyk, Fontecchio, and Dunn as rotation pieces for them. All experienced guys who play sound basketball and no iso-nonsense and could help them. We shouldn't give any of them to them. OK may get traded, but to a team that gives us more back.

I’m torn on Simone. If we traded him to the Celtics I could see us signing him again this summer lol. If you can get their first this year it’s a tough decision.

I have seen no evidence whatsoever that the Jazz are going to tank to retain their 2024 pick. In fact, every piece of info we have signals that they want to extinguish their obligation this year.

He's an RFA. I don't think you play games with that if he is someone you want for long term. Celtics have little to give us anyway.

I think the several veteran players being floated around trade rumors suggests they aren't exactly trying to make the play in either. If they wanted to extinguish the obligation, they would not be wanting to trade KO, JC, Simone etc for future pieces.

Depending on the pick, I think it's fine, but problem is that when you actually do decide to build around Lauri you need a guy exactly like Simone on a cheap contract. Because of that, I say keep him. I really, really do not want to go another year wasting another year of Lauris prime. In an ideal world, Simone loves it here, wants to return, and a future contract is already agreed upon with his agent at a good price.
