Jackpotting Around Podcast: Episode 8 - To Convey Or Not To Convey and Let’s Start A Discussion About Collin Sexton

Well take your own analogy and learn lessons from it.

Dont hold onto individual pieces too long hoping it will all eventually make sense or work. Pick the best ones out and sell high on the ones who dont fit.
Huh... we didn't have to pay all the guys... cuz they didn't all earn max deals. If Sexton continues this through next year and Keyonte is also balling out (progress is not always linear and the sophomore slump can be very real)... then move one of them next year (if it isn't working). It will play out.

And if you do move Collin... and its not for a comparable win now talent... just go ahead and move Lauri too. You aren't a serious team.

I know, we waited around and players lost value. When you realize Favors is better than Kanter, you shouldnt hold onto both. You take the better one and you sell high on the other to make the team better.

It will just never not be funny to me how much people want to ignore how Keyonte is treated vs how Sexton is treated and act like that isnt a huge indicator on how the Jazz see the future of the team.

Let's not forget to start the year the Jazz thought THT was the better player to start instead of Sexton. It's very clear the Jazz view Sexton as a 6th man and he has outplayed that role. You think that is suddenly going to make DA forget his mantra of wanting to build the team w/ height and make Sexton the starting 2 guard of the future?

Bruh… that’s what we’re saying. Sexton doesn’t get as much love as he deserves.

FWIW I enjoyed the Collin Sexton stuff. I don’t think every conversation about players needs to be had through the lens of team building/ front office decision making (especially in a podcast hosted by fans). He hasn’t really received the recognition commensurate with his level of play this year, so it was nice to hear.
This. We all like to play the arm chair GMs but sometimes it's good to be just a fan that appreciates the players putting the effort night in and night out.
But right now I'm pissed he's hurting the tank.

And sometimes that will lead you to trading Tyrese Haliburton. We have time on our sides and there is a scenario where both guys are good. If Kanter wasn't meh then its fine and it might work with both.

Lets not forget how Ochai was forced down our throats as "a starter" only to be shipped to Toronto for half a late first.

At the time, there were (at least) two teams who proved they were willing to give Kanter the max he could get. The fact that we dealt him for a peanut package (that DL went on with Boler and Harpring to describe as "a haul") shouldn't be reflective of him losing value.

Also, Kanter was Cy's OG Sexton.

Because you are trading a guy who is producing like an all-star... is on the same timeline with your other all-star and if you are taking a big step back then go ahead and put a bow on it and go full Process.

I think we need a really good return if we're going to trade Collin, otherwise we keep him. He's just too good. The fact that he's so consistent makes the decision easier. I'd only trade him for a quantifiable return of a player of similar caliber, not projects or draft picks.

I think anytime you trade an undersized offense only player you're going to get overall talent back.

Doesn't mean you shouldnt trade
I have no clue where you are going muchacho. All I said is if we trade Sexton and we aren't getting win-now talent we need to go full tank. If we move him for picks or prospects just burn trade Lauri too.

And I'm okay if they want to trade him for a great return that includes those things... but just trade Lauri and go fully into the tank if you do that.

I mean maybe they do that, but Keyonte will have a bigger impact on winning next year than Sexton will. Jazz should be very pleased he has been able to raise his value. I think both sides will be better off after a trade. Sexton has enough talent to warrant being the lead guard on a team. Just not the Jazz.

False

I've missed quite a few games lately, are Keyonte and Collin on court together often? How do they look? Can they coexist?
