The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

See that's what they are railing against. Since they don't believe the way you do they aren't entitled to their "feelings" unless they are approved. And it also shows you make no effort to get to know the electorate beyond your chosen dogmas. And that's the problem. We live in a world of sound-bites and echo chambers. No effort need be made to understand another actual real human being as long as they can simply be dismissed as less than actually human since their opinions aren't "correct".
No, you are wrong about this. I’ve listened to them plenty, understand them just fine, but reject their opinions. It’s a decision to reject their opinions, it’s not me being ignorant of them. And stop telling me I don’t know these people. I’m a ****ing Democrat who lives in Utah. I hear this whining every day. Stop. Perhaps it’s time that “these people” listen to others?

I completely understand them. I just refuse to coddle and pander to them. It’s people like you who show them the let amount of respect as you treat them as children that need to be pacified instead of adults that need to be read the hard truth.

I dismiss their opinions because they’re absolutely wrong. We are living in a great country in a great time. Part of being an adult is telling people when they’re wrong. We really need to stop treating our fellow Americans, especially when they have poorly informed opinions, as if their arguments are valid. Not all opinions are equal and some need to be refuted.

Stop giving life to this mantra that America sucks, the economy sucks, life was better in the past, etc. it’s just not true by nearly every metric out there. “Feelings” shouldn’t supersede facts.

Do me a favor.

Next time you talk to one of these people, ask them to articulate their frustrations and then ask them what their solutions are. They can be “frustrated” right leaning or left leaning. Nostalgia for a better non-existent past impacts people on both sides of the political spectrum. I think you’ll find their frustrations to be incoherent and lacking in specifics; wholly emotional. “It feels like…” is not a valid argument. And I think you’ll find their solutions to be lacking even more.

I’ve done this many times in the last 8 years. Rarely does it yield anything substantive. We live in a post truth pro feelings world right now where empirical data is completely dismissed by emotions.

No one cares about uniting anymore, just pwning, to use the throwback term. We've become an entire nation of entitled keyboard warriors. It's sad and sickening really. And supremely shameful that anyone would gloat the way everyone seems to do anymore.
Where are you getting this information?

If you’re talking about the political parties uniting, Did you not see how democrats and some republicans voted for infrastructure? Did you see the bipartisan immigration bill where Democrats reached way across the aisle to give Republicans everything they wanted until Trump told them to reject it? Up until five minute ago, Republicans supported Ukraine. What about Pres Joe Biden is divisive? The guy has been the most accommodating president there’s been in the last 30 year. Hard to unite with a political party that’s scared to death of its cult leader and of being primaried. Apparently the worst thing that could happen in life is to be primaried and NOT go back to DC.

When was the last time the country was as united as you’re trying to describe here?

It’s pretty hard to “unite” and govern when a large segment of the population is completed disengaged and ignorant of basic issues or completely in the clutch of a cult of personality by watching social media and Fox News/Newsmax.

if you’re speaking generally of citizens, that actually proves my point. It’s not about issues or policies. It’s not about actual economies or actual data showing that children are having worst lives than their parents. It’s about “feelings.” We’ve had so many years of peace and prosperity in this country, that people are seeking community, meaning, and entertainment through the basic emotions of: anger, divisiveness, and hate. It’s much easier to live in an online fantasyland where crime is up, the economy is bad, and America sucks than to live in the boring yet prosperous reality. We have become a nation of children. And I don’t pander and coddle to the segment of our population that demands that their temper tantrums be taken seriously.

No, the economy doesn’t suck.
No, vaccine don’t cause disease (and whatever your yoga instructing podcaster is suggesting is more likely than not to be more dangerous for you than traditional medicine).
No, crime isn’t up.
No, immigrants don’t drain the system (the opposite is true).
No, America doesn’t suck.
No, the past wasn’t better.

We need to give people had truths instead of enabling their ridiculous online fantasies, whether it be Jan 6, or whether they’re living in The Great Depression 2.0, or whether they believe vaccines cause disease. Indulging their feelings and therefore Enabling these fantasies instead of refuting them just perpetuates the problem.

Arguably, it’s why he wanted Ronna Romney out, so he could completely take over the GOP and have it pay for his legal bills indefinitely.

Shortly after Jan 6, he and Ronna had an argument. He was still angry that he had to leave office and expressed how the GOP should’ve fought harder for him. So told Ronna that he’d start up his own political party. She responded by saying that if he did that, he’d lose financial support from the GOP, they’d stop paying his legal bills and they’d retain the email lists of MAGA donors (since technically, they were Republican donors). Trump obviously dropped his plans to start up his own political party then and there.

But it’s clear that he remembers this incident. Which is why as soon as he had defeated his rivals this primary season, he gave Ronna the guillotine. Now his loyalists control the GOP and its donor lists. Which is going to redirect millions of campaign cash that could be used nationally for candidates to Trump’s legal problems.

So much winning!

Inside look at how Biden arrives at important decisions….

That one last phone call Biden always needs to make:

Why doesn’t he call in live to MSNBC? Or tweet to gauge what his most rabid supporters think?

Is Rachel Maddow not his shadow CoS?

I thought he was so dementia-laden that he couldn’t stop drooling and the squad was controlling him? This makes him seem like he’s in control. I mean, doesn’t it feel like Biden is completely incompetent? Weird, it’s almost like the media has given me feelings that aren’t true all for clicks.

Eye roll

Yet another fact free post guided by emotion. Which again, proves my point. American adults are letting emotions, perceived grievances, and tribalism guide their decisions. If by echo chamber you mean empirical data and not social media takes, then yeah, I guess so?

Maybe take a taste of your own medicine and step outside your own echo chamber? Perceptions shouldn’t override reality. Just because people “feel” cheated doesn’t mean that they are. And just because they “feel” cheated doesn’t mean that institutions and leaders are cheating them. Time to treat fellow Americans as adults instead of indulging their every emotion.

Side note: (It’s funny how I’m often attacked as the liberal on this board when I seem to be the conservative adult, expecting fellow Americans to be adults, face accountability, and use data not feelings to guide their decisions? I’m suddenly over the last 8 or so years the cold hearted guy because I don’t believe we should pander to the emotions of Americans who “feel” cheated. Crazy how Trump and social media have overridden some of your senses, seemingly compelling some of you to fall for the negative polarization and frankly bull **** propaganda all over the place. How shall this country be united indeed, very good question Log. Especially when the identity of so many Americans is based upon being cheated by Democrats, Jews, blacks, Muslims, whites, globalists, “the elites”, etc etc etc no matter what the facts actually tell)

Here is a right leaning economist saying the opposite.

Maybe you oppose everything the right says because you don’t understand the actual issues and it’s easier to call the right “racists” then actually have a debate.

I don’t believe you will watch the 3 min clip because you don’t put forth the effort to actually understand opposing views.

The conservative Cato Institute conducted several studies on immigration, immigrant labor, and the impacts on our country. Empirical data >>> feelings/perceptions. And you can read about it just a few pages back!

Cato ain’t liberal either.

Gotta love how I’m told to read conservative sources and step out of my echo chamber while I constantly cite conservative sources (The Atlantic, David French, Tom Nichols, Cato Institute). Not to mention peer reviewed studies. But whatever. Feelings and perceptions trump everything these days.

Just amazing.

Just some helpful context here:

Heritage Foundation was a conservative think tank. However, under Jim DeMint’s presidency, took an tea party turn, breaking free of traditional conservatism. Heritage currently indulges in the nationalism, conspiracy, and policy of emotion of MAGA. MAGA isn’t a conservative movement, it’s a Reactionary movement led by an incredibly effeminate cult of personality leader. While Cato, primarily funded by the Koch network, has retained its independence from MAGA and maintains its (conservative) libertarian roots.

Not all “right leaning” writers or YouTube influencers are the same. It’s important to step outside of your echo and chambers know your sources. :)

I constantly cite conservative sources (The Atlantic...
The Atlantic is a -4.00 on the political scale. They are to the left of Bernie Sanders and Noam Chomsky. Only those standing with Chairman Mao and Vladimir Lenin see The Atlantic to their right.

Did you even read the study? Or did you just post to show everyone you're not tribal?

Subtitle:
With some variation and exceptions, the net fiscal impact of immigrants is more positive than it is for native‐born Americans and positive overall for the federal and state/local governments.

They didn't include illegal immigrants, due to showing only 61,652 illegal immigrants came into the USA for 24 years.

Demographics of the Illegal Immigrant Population

The second change we attempted was to include a separate net fiscal cost estimate for illegal immigrants, but we were unable to implement it due to small sample sizes in the CPS. We attempted to locate them in the 1994–2018 CPS sample by using a residual methodology developed by Christian Gunadi, an economist at the University of California, San Diego, who imputed legal immigrant status and identified those remaining as illegal immigrants.88According to Gunadi’s method, people are counted as legal immigrants if they meet any of the following criteria, as recorded in the 2019 ACS: The immigrant arrived after 1980; is a U.S. citizen; received welfare benefits, such as Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid, Medicare, or military insurance; served in the Armed Forces; worked for the government; resided in public housing or received rental subsidies or was the spouse of someone who resided in public housing or received rental subsidies; was born in Cuba and had a spouse who was a legal immigrant or U.S. citizen; or had occupational licenses. We omitted the occupational licensing criteria because of changes in the reporting in this variable in post‐2017 census data, but that omission makes little difference to the final numbers.
Gunadi’s method works well for the larger ACS, but it identifies only 72,478 illegal immigrants in the CPS from 1994–2018. Because individuals can and do appear in multiple years in the CPS, the number of unique illegal immigrant individuals is even lower, at 61,652. As a result, many age and education groups have almost no illegal immigrant representation in the CPS sample, making it infeasible to obtain accurate fiscal profiles that are as granular and representative as the other profiles used in this model (see Table 24). Reduced illegal immigrant ineligibility for most benefits in this model means that the net fiscal impact of illegal immigrants would almost certainly be more positive than that of legal immigrants at the same age and education level, but we were unable to verify that because of the small sample sizes.

Maybe you are the troll. I know you love to call everyone a troll yet your post are consistent of being a troll.

Again your knowledge of immigration, like other topics, is quite shallow. There is a difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is the biggest issue due to the consumption of resources. Show me a study that shows the net positive on illegal immigration that has never been seen before. 2024 years is already out pacing the first 3 years of the Biden administration:
Screenshot 2024-03-09 at 1.33.49 PM.png

In the first 4 months of 2024 we are at 63% of illegal immigrants encountered in all of 2021. These don't include the got-a-way that were never encountered.

Lets see a study from Cato that shows 10 million illegal immigrants plus legal immigrants compared to just 61,000 illegals in 24 years and legal immigrants.

You can't debate this because you haven't done any research. This is a resource issue. Just like you call "book banning" anti-gay or transphobic, when the actual issue is "what is age appropriate". Books are not being banned, you can get any books you want at any time. Parents can buy any books in any state.

Just keep calling people racists, anti-gay and transphobic. Just keep being a left wing troll.

I hate to do this but your economist is wrong and making false arguments. Annexing France and bringing in immigrants is not the same thing. The French have jobs while the immigrants crossing the border do not. The immigrants increase the pool of labor. The concerns over draining our social service safety nets is valid, and the concerns over lowering wages too is valid, however this is an overriding effect at play. When the economy turns bad, the party in power loses the election. The fight against inflation is the fight to maintain power.

The concept motivating the Biden administration to keep the southern border open despite the polling showing it to be unpopular is referred to as NAIRU.

The Biden Administration has signaled an intention to close the border right before the election so as to take the issue off the table for voters, but they are going to do everything they can to keep it open to flood the pool of labor right up until the last minute. Yes, it will cause problems in society but the economy will be healthy and inflation will be contained which should help the democrats hold on to power.

I just posted this as well. He keeps calling you a troll and loves to point out everytime your were off on something and tries to rub it in.

See his views and his opinions are an absolute. What he believes is correct and if anyone else has an opposing view they are morally wrong and should be shunned. Oh and if your have ONE, just ONE right sided view, you're automatically lumped into "Maga". You're fiscally conservative and socially liberal, nope you're a Maga troll, shun.

Anti-vaccers, automatically Maga. Weird, independent parents are actually less tend to follow the vaccine schedule then republicans, from a left leaning publication:
Screenshot 2024-03-09 at 1.55.08 PM.png

Maybe those kids in S.Florida have more independent leaning parents, not Maga. Or Thriller will just lump them all together call them all Maga, including 14% of Democrat parents.

I hate to do this but your economist is wrong and making false arguments.
Again, I don't hate you bringing up a difference in opinion, discussing is a better option.
Annexing France and bringing in immigrants is not the same thing. The French have jobs while the immigrants crossing the border do not.
So you're saying all the illegal immigrants do not have jobs in the countries they are from?

If they don't, what skill do they bring with them over the border? Or what % of these illegal immigrants have advanced education? Bringing skills that are needed in America at this time?

The immigrants increase the pool of labor. The concerns over draining our social service safety nets is valid, and the concerns over lowering wages too is valid, however this is an overriding effect at play. Illegal immigration is putting financial pressure on low to moderate income levels. This is where cracks in the economy are starting to appear.

Lets take a look at what is happening for lower income level earners:

Low- and Moderate-Income Households Cut Back on Necessities

When confronted with less purchasing power, individuals relied on different responses to cope. Based on the Household Pulse Survey results in June 2023, a majority of individuals across all household income groups used three strategies:

  • Shopped at stores that offered lower prices, looked for sales and/or used coupons
  • Ate at restaurants or ordered food for delivery less often
  • Delayed major purchases
Beyond those common or shared tactics, there were more nuanced findings based on household income. As a combined group, low- and moderate-income individuals more frequently used the following tactics (in order of prevalence):

  • Switched from name-brand products to generic options
  • Contributed less to savings and/or retirement accounts
  • Drove less or changed modes of transportation (e.g., biked or took public transportation instead of driving)
  • Delayed medical treatment (e.g., refilling prescriptions, having surgery)
  • Increased use of credit cards, loans and/or pawnshops
  • Worked additional job(s)/shift(s) to supplement income
Some coping strategies were used significantly more by (but were not limited to) individuals with lower household incomes:

  • Purchased less meat and/or fresh produce
  • Decreased use of utilities (e.g., cooling, heating, water, electricity)
  • Asked friends and/or family for help
  • Utilized benefits from charities
Less consumption or Debt is the only option.

"But for the rest of America, things are looking rough.

“You have these noticeable pockets of consumers -- mostly middle- and lower-income renters who have not benefitted from the wealth effect of higher housing prices and stock prices -- who are feeling financial stress and that’s driving up these delinquency levels. They’ve been hit very hard by inflation,” said Warren Kornfeld, a senior vice president at Moody’s, in an interview.

Kornfeld, who co-wrote a report last week looking at the climbing levels of delinquencies, expects them to keep climbing this year."

Again the people who make 100k+ are seeing some stress but not at the levels of lower earners.

Illegal immigration is hurting this these Americans the hardest. Taking away opportunities for wage increase is a huge factor. Housing is another huge issue. Lets look at rents in the USA last year.

"Rent prices are now 29.4% higher than they were before the pandemic, but rental growth seems to have slowed from the major spikes of 2021. In January, rents are 3.4% higher than at the same time last year."
"More income is required to rent. A person needed to make $78,304 a year to afford rent in January — paying about 30% of income. That’s an increase of 29% since before the pandemic."

63% of American Households are in the low to moderate wage earners. And 50% of American households do not make $78,304 to afford rent.

I do care about Americans who are really struggling and how policies should go to benefit Americans as priority One. We do not have unlimited resources for the whole world to have and use for their problems.

are there any American politicians at all who aren't just ****ing weird and or liars ?? That Republican woman who gave the reply was one of the most cringey things i've ever seen. Yeah let's put a woman in the kitchen to give the reply lol and speak like an absolute moron like she was auditioning for talking to kinder aged children. The fake affect was even more nauseating than Joe's cranky old man shouting at the sky trick
Speaking of faking things for affect.

Alabama Sen. Katie Britt graphically described a woman’s story of being “sex trafficked by the cartels starting at age 12,” during the Republican response to the State of the Union address on Thursday, using the story as an anecdote of, what she called, President Joe Biden’s failed immigration policies. But the story she seemed to describe didn’t take place during Biden’s time as president or vice president, nor did it happen in the United States.

Wouldn’t the pro life position be to be fine with this? Or can sex trafficked fetuses be aborted because they’re not considered to be human?

Besides, isn’t all of this god’s will anyway?
