BYU NCAA Violations

**** the NCAA

Notice how they always focus on enforcement of "gifts". What is so unethical about providing an affordable place to live to a kid that is bringing in big bucks to your school. Or is it rather that they fear a precedent and a slippery slope towards compensation/salary.

So apparently the best evidence that these radio guys had for babbling was that the dude gave away a pair of socks. I mean, maybe there is more there, but how are you going to spend two days stirring the pot based on a pair of socks? We need a NFL team here badly so they can be talking about rookie camp or something. Or there is this little NBA draft thing coming up......

I'm not sure where you are getting your info, but from what I've read/heard there's a lot more to the story than that. As I said in an earlier post I'll reserve judgment until after the facts are in, but this isn't just about socks.

but this isn't just about socks.

I agree. Him 'retiring' is enough info to make me believe it's more than that(though I'm think it will still be mild)....I'm just saying that it appears the radio guys, as they tend to do, weren't going off of anything too solid. They've basically tweeted that they don't know much, but they sure acted like they did over the past few days.

I'll never understand the BYU fan base (gave up trying years ago). I've never seen a group with a bigger persecution complex. If sports radio guys even dare report on a story involving "possible" BYU wrong doing, they are immediately public enemy #1. It's as if people in this state aren't allowed to openly discuss BYU unless it's in a positive light. The insecurity shown by some Coug fans is astounding.

Lol. Or the Ute fan making something outta nothing.

Sigh.

I dont understand the people saying this isnt a big deal. Like, we have the same internet right? Everything I have read indicates that byu will face sanctions for this. Not opinion or speculation that they will, a statement of fact.

I think it goes beyond Coug fans here. I mean, I get what you're saying and agree to a point. But look at Utah fans.

Ohhhhh we don't care about the rivalry... We are soooooo over it... Let's plaster PAC-12 shields all over the place, attempt to fight the coach after the game, etc...

And is it still Utah Man? Or has it been changed to Utah Person?

I think in general, fans are just overly defensive these days.

And no folks, there's more to this then hooking these athletes up with socks and some food. You're talking about free or discounted housing and loans. Ummmm yeah. Big violations.

I agree that every fan base has it's fair share of fans with the "poor us" attitude". However, I still think some Cougar fans take it to absurd levels. I work with some NCAA football fanatics from out of state who have zero interest in Utah or BYU and they've even noticed the same thing. The only theory I've got: Being that BYU is church owned, some cougar fans see a negative opinion about BYU as an attack on the church.

Hilarious. This whole topic is about you guys trying to make us say, "woe is us" and nobody is buying into it.

Meanwhile, the on thing on Tom Holmoe's mind is wondering where can he find the shelf space for the Taysom Hill Heisman memorial in Legacy Hall.

lol @ Archie being an undercover zoob.

Why is this such a personal thing for you Archie? Do you know the dude in question?

But like, do you follow college sports? They broke rules and will be penalized for it. It's not some judgement thing or anti byu thing.

No **** Sherlock. I'm just not making 9/11 out of it like some clowns are. Plus, we don't even know what they did. Lol
