Donald Fires FBI Director who's investigating Russian Election Hacking

I've just been worried about how polarized the country is. Regardless of how this ends for Trump, it seems Putin wins

I want my country back, I hardly recognize it now.

Yeah, exactly. The deliberate creation of alternate realities, promulgated by both Trump and his friends at Fox and elsewhere, is something that will still be there Post Trump. And I can envision Trump as still a highly disruptive influence out of power, still the leader of the personality cult he has created. Part of what I meant by saying we are going to have to actually learn and grow from this aberrant administration is we will need to find a way to actually nurture an educated electorate. It should not be so easy for a demagogue to seize power and render our nation unrecognizable.

Last night, I noted with interest a lawsuit brought in my own state of Rhode Island, pointing to the very real need for an emphasis on civics classes in our schools, in order to nurture an educated electorate. To help recognize the type of would be leaders we need to avoid:

When the president of the United States becomes known as an "individual 1". Hint: it ain't good....

If this is accurate...yikes!

"Together, the documents show investigators have evidence that Trump was in close contact with his lieutenants as they made outreach to both Russia and WikiLeaks — and that they tried to conceal the extent of their activities."

More troubling analysis for the Pres and his supporters.

“This is part of the fact pattern that gets to the heart of whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin during the campaign,” O’Brien said. “I think the unforgiving grinding force of the U.S. justice system, which he has tried to undermine since he became president, is encircling him. I don’t think we know where he will land. But he is certainly mired in something that he is ill-equipped, legally and personally, to handle.”

If any of you think this investigation has gone on too long

https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...e-among-the-most-important/?ex_cid=538twitter

(Hint: You're wrong)

And that it's too expensive:

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/09/17/mueller-probe-could-turn-a-profit-thanks-to-manafort-assets.html

In all, the value of the real estate alone that Manafort is surrendering amounts to an estimated $22 million. The exact value of the assets will not be known until it is all sold. The federal government routinely auctions off forfeited goods and contracts with real estate brokers to sell seized properties...

It was a line of argument heard across conservative channels in the spring because the Department of Justice released its Statement of Expenditures for the special counsel's office. From May 17, 2017, through March 31, 2018, the investigation cost about $16.7 million.

(Hint: not only are you wrong, but the opposite is true. It's estimated we'll make money after Manafort's assets alone)

I choose to assume that Robert Mueller is smarter then any of the principles in the crosshairs of this investigation. I have no idea how much longer we'll have to wait before there will be a public disclosure of Mueller's report. But I do hope the public will see said report. In the meantime, this has been one of the more speculative-fueling weeks to date.

Supposedly, acting AG Whitaker has promised Democrats that he will follow "all the regulations, policies, and procedures" that govern Mueller's investigation. That's nice of him. We'll see. If he has any sense of how History will judge him, that would be a good decision on his part:

In the meantime, the week's developments has resulted in some interesting speculation, and perspective on that ponderous "no collusion" mantra...

Cohen's plea suggest Russians held "kompromat" on Mr. Trump:

Donald Trump gave Russia leverage over his presidency:

The legal perils that Cohen's guilty plea holds for Donald Trump:

Yeah, I can see where the Don would be freaking out right about now:

The whitehouse blocked the CIA from explaining their stance on the Khashoggi murder. Also known as "Yo ********s, Khashoggi was murdered, it was premeditated, and Mohammed bin Salman ordered it". No explanation was ever proposed why.

A few senators got together today with the CIA(I believe 8), and they've even the GOP are all "wtf, yo?"

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, a Tennessee Republican, said "I have zero question in my mind that the Crown Prince MBS ordered the killing, monitored the killing, knew exactly what was happening. Planned it in advanced. If he was in front of a jury he would be convicted in 30 minutes. Guilty," Corker said.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said, "It's not a smoking gun, it's a smoking saw."

Meanwhile, Rand Paul is continuing his deep state, "...but they didn't include me" rhetoric.

Do you want to know what the deep state is? The CIA Director is coming to the US Senate and only briefing a select few members of the Senate. Why shouldn’t every senator know what is going on? The deep state wants to keep everyone in the dark. This is just ridiculous!

It is not known why there was a smaller senate group, but it only included 8 senators. So I guess the "deep state" he's whining about are eight people from both sides of the room.

https://qz.com/1484656/the-redacted-michael-flynn-memo-is-beautiful/

Robert Mueller’s office recommended on Tuesday evening that former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn serve little to no jail time, because his assistance on the investigation into Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia was “particularly valuable.”

The redacted bits of the memo are a work of art:

Screen-Shot-2018-12-04-at-8.46.31-PM.png

SCO
Addendum to Government’s memorandum in aid of sentencing, page 2 of 6Q

Three investigations referenced in the Flynn memo are completely redacted; one is not. In the unredacted investigation, Flynn is credited for knowing about “coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the Trump campaign.”

Which raises an obvious question: What are the investigations that Mueller won’t name, and how could they be more sensitive than colluding with the Kremlin?

That long nose is conveniently placed against the the statue behind him. I giggled mightily and a scrolled back up(I'm at work, can't have that). It was a few seconds before I realized it was just a guys nose.

Very well played.

Big news in Trump land. Cohen's sentencing documents make clear that federal prosecutor's believe Trump directed Cohen to commit multiple felonies. Obviously Trump himself isn't going to be indicted himself (at least not while serving as president) but this does open the door for Democrats in the house to explore impeachment in earnest.

But wait, there's more to come.

What did Flynn know and tell to get a recommendation of no time? What are Manafort's lies and how do we know they are lies? When this comes to be public knowledge, it will rock 45 to his base. Will even they stay with him?

It will likely all come crashing down on his head like Maxwell's silver hammer.

The several components of what Mueller has revealed so far that point to the fact that he's got Trump where collusion with Putin and Russia is concerned. I'll add another: the countless, by now, times in which Trump has tweeted "NO COLLUSION!" should be reason enough to know this pathological liar colluded.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/mueller-is-telling-us-hes-got-trump-on-collusion

"In the face of what Mueller has revealed, there is little question where this is going. Mueller may still be only showing us part of his hand, but it’s a damn good hand. He has signalled to us he’s found collusion. He has shown us that the president is compromised. He has told us that he has gathered information important to his investigation about contacts with people in the Trump Organization, the campaign, the transition, and even the White House. That’s everyone Trump has been connected with since he started running. And given all the redacted information in his filings and all that he’s been told by cooperating witnesses, we can be confident that Mueller will show us even more.

Mueller is coming. And he is clearly coming for Trump. Not simply for obstructing justice but for conspiring with a hostile foreign power to win an election. This is a scandal unlike any America has ever seen."
