Following potential 2013 draftees

Kinda like when you're dating. Everything's rosy, everything's exciting.. you overlook at lot of her flaws. She's cute. She's sexy. She wears hot pants....

But when you're starting to think seriously about marriage, living together, KIDSSS - if she smokes for example - can you really live with that for the rest of your life? What if she likes Poker? Can you spend all your Sat. nights at Casinos?

It's a long term commitment we're talking about here.

hotttnickkk just go Jimmer for a little while and come back and give us something better.

honestly does the color of someone's skin determine their defensive potential?

for all the haters out there Hayward is a good defender.

Well I just think these playoffs series have proven that you need your wingman to be able to defend. Look at these guys:

Green/Kawhii/Stevenson/George/LeBron/Wade/Prince/Tony Allen

They're all great defenders.

If you're drafting a guy who can't defend late in the game, that's just gonna be the burden your team'll have to carry.

Hayward = Saric (pretty much)

Kerasev can shoot - but so what? So can Kyle Korver. Chicago couldn't bring him up defensively - do you think Ty can?

Give me a wing who can shoot the 3's, defend, and are happy being told what to do, over almost anything else, any day of the week.

I think ideally you want a lot of shooting and a lot of defense. Yes, the key is to get guys that can do both, but not even all the guys you listed have both those qualities. It's not realistic to expect every wing on your team to be capable of doing both. I'm not going to shrug off all of Giannis' abilities just because he hasn't proven to be a great threat from downtown, and I'm not going to shrug off Karasev's abilities just because he may never be a good defender.

Also, Hayward and Saric are not the same player. The topic you keep bringing up is wings that can defend and shoot the 3 ball. Hayward is great at both, Saric has major question marks on both.

I know everyone kinda have their "preference" or "idea" of what a wing player should be.

There are numerous skills a wing / basketball player in general can have:

- Vision
- passing
- ball handling
- dribbling
- mid range
- slashing
- 3pt shooting
- defending
- finishing
- motor
- shot blocking
etc, ...

I'm just saying, if we're drafting a wing, I'd prefer him/her to have SOLID 3pt shooting and defensive skills. I'd put more weight on those 2 sets of skills over all others. Of course it's a bonus if they can do other things well as well, and you do need that as a player. But I'd put more "weight" on those 2 sets of skills.

It's just my preference.

Carry on...

I just can't understand why Karasev will be a defensive liability. He has a good size and his wingspan isn't that bad. He is just 19 and he will gain strength. He just needs to impove his defensive techniques.
