Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I think it would make sense if Morey does not like Ace, it's called Moreyball for a reason. OTOH, he seems like a swing for the fence kind of guy. I think he could like him if he sees him as a ball of clay and one that he can turn into a Moreyball player. He won't like him because of the mid range shot making which is the appeal for a lot of Ace's supporters.

I'm unsure of what timeline they are going to want to operate on. Their decision is the most up in the air for sure. I could see them drafting like 4 different players and I also think there's high potential for trade.

Sixers probably know their future is cooked, or at least is near cooked and them being not cooked relies completely on Embiid's knees being healthy, which is basically cooked. They are probably going to try and run a "two timelines" type of deal and fake compete until they can sell off Embiid and build around Maxey/McCain/Whoever they draft at 3.

So they are going to take whoever they think is the highest potential piece.

And it probably won't be them taking Ace as none of he, VJ, or Tre have very much potential. No one in this range does.

???

Other than... the fact that Ace rates badly by statistical models, takes no free throws, almost no layups, and few threes?

And the fact that he's extremely raw on both ends on what is probably a win now team?

It feels like I just listed five things and then you just pretended to not be able to read for a second.

Cool, he plays SF, he's also years and years away and didn't help Rutgers win basketball games.
Morey said he's taking the BPA and there’s not a statistical way in which Ace is his BPA at #3 based on his money ball model. Simple as that

my guess is he doesn't base BPA entirely on statistics. - probably factors in statistics, age/potential, size, length, on ball defense, work ethic, how hard they play, are they coachable, etc - you know things that could determine whether a guy will be BPA in 3-5 years. that's just a guess as i have no clue how Morey determines BPA - but just a thought.

Tyrese Maxey had a BPM of 4.4 in college and Morey drafted him.

While I agree that we don't really know what Morey likes in a draft, that is not the argument people are making at all. Ace is the worst "Moreyball" guy in the draft. Doesn't mean that Morey won't draft him, but that's the actual argument being presented.

How does a 6'9 shooter not make sense for Moreyball? Why does VJ Edgecombe make more sense for "Moreyball".

Is "moreyball" even a thing when his team's best player takes a ton of midrange shots?

Moreyball was mostly a counter to the Golden State Warriors' historically prolific offense. It's driving and kicking, so everything is a 3PA, at the rim, or at the foul line. I don't think it works really with Joel Embiid being your main guy.....well, except the FTs.
