Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Mentioned this trade before....if we're being realistic about the value of Lauri, this is probably closer to the value than just PG+#3 for Lauri. Taking PG off their hands is a huge favor, though some would consider Lauri to also be a negative contract.

I would like to try to loop in MIL here. If Giannis wants to stay, Dame for PG could be a move. But I'm fine with taking on the PG contract and figuring out what to do with it later.

If we had #3 and #5, I think you'd just take VJ at #3 and then take whoever is leftover between Ace and Tre at #5?

Yeah, I think people are either underrating George a little or overrating Lauri’s value. If we keep 5 we will have to pony up some draft comp.

I actually would go Ace at 3 and take whoever is left of VJ/Tre at 5.

Now that you say it though I do see the vision in taking VJ and Ace/Tre at 5.

Ideally I would want to come out of it with Ace for sure. VJ and Tre is my least preferred outcome of the three.

The amount of chucking with Tre and Ace makes me queasy lol, but if you really think those two represent the highest potential players two bites at the apple is better than one.

Me personally, I don't think you compromise potential if select VJ, but it would be nice to get a different kind of player in our building. It seems like he's the heavy favorite there from CHO fans, so I'd assume if we want VJ we must take him at 3.

The funny thing is I would want VJ at 3 if we just had that one singular pick.

I love his size. I would like him to get to the rim more than he does. He’s obviously not the best defender.

I think at 5 he’s about as good of a prospect as you could ask for. I think there is a chance he goes 3 or 4.

Sam Vecenie was saying he had one of the best shooting workouts he’s ever watched in person. He also says he goes so hard in every workout and every single rep.
That last sentence is encouraging.
I'm starting to move him ahead of Ace.
I really like Tre.
I really like all 3 guys being discussed. It's the homer in me probably lol

I think these guys are close enough that some small, minute things can change your thinking. I kinda like VJ+Tre if I'm being honest. When I think of some of the better outcomes for Tre I think about Herro, Murray, and McCollum. He is bigger than all of those guys, but I think his skillet is similar. I'm not a guy who believes strongly in traditional positions and the guy I'd want most next to those three I had mentioned is a strong, defensive combo guard who can play a little with the ball and without it. I like the idea of rolling out VJ and Tre together, giving both the opportunity to push their limits as a ball handler, and hoping for the best. I like the contrast in their styles and think they could work together.

I REALLY wish Tre would have gone to his parent's alma matter and linked up with VJ at Baylor.

Thong with PG is he might be cooked. Played 74 games in the contract year and outside of that he is like 30-50 games per year over the last 5. With teams and spending getting tighter I really push to get something good for taking that on. That value has to be heavily weighted in the deal.

It is heavily weighted. We are getting the 3rd overall pick while keeping 5th.

I like Ace and Tre better than VJ but if we're getting 2 of the three then I would want VJ and one of the other two just for roster balance and fit. Key is a chucker and Tre and ace are chuckers. VJ would provide sometime a little different.

I then wonder if San Antonio would rather have 3/5 or 2/14. What would you rather have?
Ooohhhhh now that is getting spicy.
I have a tough time with that question. Curious to hear others thoughts.
Which pick combo would you rather have?

I’d hope to come out with VJ and Ace, specifically.
