Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Unplayable? Being a bit dramatic.

I wasn't trying to be. I don't think he can play meaningful minutes for a team that is trying to win games.

I guess that could be said for most rookies, but my point is he was getting knocked off his spots by not very big European guys, I don't think that's going to go well in the NBA.

Sure, but he's going to get bigger and there's plenty of skinny guys who do fine in the NBA based off the length/energy/hustle.

I'm catching up on the latest Noa Essengue film and my opinion has not changed. He might become the best player out of this draft, but he's currently unplayable in the NBA. He's so long and he uses his length well. It's crazy watching him swallow up guys on the perimeter. He's got the beginnings of some skill, but he still has a long ways to go before his dribbling/passing are NBA ready. The main thing that jumps off the screen when you are watching the Cashiggy videos is the he is so easily bumped off of his spots, he has such a long ways to go before he's NBA ready from a strength standpoint. Lastly his jumper needs a lot of work. I don't trust it at all at the moment.

Very very interesting player, if he adds strength and/or skill he might be a beast, but if not he is unplayable.
This review sounds like rookie year Giannis in Cody Williams body if you have never watched Noa tape.

Guessing need to watch some tape on Noa now.

I just watched 20 minutes of Essengue film. Most of it was him picking on 6'0 eurotrash. Lots of dunks, free throws, and threes. Flashes of playmaker. Slight frame. Long. Could he play the 5 in the league? Maybe. 3 and D potential? Yes. 4 and D (if there is such a thing)? Sure.

I can see the intrigue.

We’re going to hear a bunch of noise now and going forward about the draft. One rumor going around is the Spurs aren’t set on Harper at 2. If that’s true we should be ready to pounce.

They’ll want Giannis first, but if they don’t him I’d do a lot to get Harper. Overpay….who cares. I want one player on the team can confidently say is someone we’re building around. Harper + all young players/Patty Mills type vets is what I want.

Who do you experts feel is the better player now and in 5 years between Essengue and Flemming?

Both look like their floor is probably 16 so they require trading up. Webenyama + Essengue @ 14? Orlando loves length.

5 + 21 + two firsts? That would be an overpay. I’d still do it.

Yeah....I'd probably do that. I think it makes sense to put Lauri in the deal, and our overpay is that we didn't a ton of trade value for him. Not ideal, but it's also not ideal to let Lauri rot here and/or be the reason we have no pick next year.

Essengue is interesting for sure, but not interesting enough to consider at #5. Seems right in between our picks, so I can't myself to do too much on him.

yeah, i'm probably as high on essengue as anybody on this forum, but i'm not really considering him at 5. very close to that (top 10), but not at 5 at this point.
