What's new

Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Yes, but the Jazz absolutely loving two guys (more than basically any other team in the league) who have no real shared traits other than being killer interviews (Keyonte and Cody) does suggest a through line.

But it's hard to know if this continues after firing half their scouting staff and bringing in a new POBO.
Do you even know if they had good interviews? What about their workouts?

It wouldn't surprise me if the Jazz or any other team has Ace lower than consensus because he might be a poor interview. The interview on Ace is more important than other players.

But I really can't get behind the idea that we can predict the Jazz board based on how we think guys might interview and how we think Zach Edey interviewed lol. Extreme mental gymnastics to push this narrative.

Does anyone know how Synergy defines "spot up" ? For example, if a guy pump fakes, attacks the closeout, then takes a mid range jumper is that still a "spot up" Based on the numbers and categories, I think this is true, but I don't know if there's a guide out there on anything.

What I do know is that "spot up" plays include a lot of 2FGA. These guys aren't spotting up from 2 initially, I know that for sure.

Someone needs to teach HaEH a lesson in causation/correlation.

No ****, I constantly admit that feature X or Y may not actually be that valued by the Jazz despite the possible connection. Especially after Cody Williams was such a bust that the Jazz changed tons of their front office. But it feels more interesting than going "Ace is #3 on mock drafts based on very little info so far so the Jazz would never have Kon/Fears/VJ ranked over him."

But I'm a little surprised the AA comments about wanting tough and team-first players hasn't made more people fade the chances of Ace and Tre.

Didn’t Tre say in an interview that he was primarily playmaker for his teammates but they asked him to be a scorer in college?
But scorers can still be team first. "Team first" is pretty general and more about your overall attitude than your on court playstyle. Like do you celebrate your teammates achievements, cheer on the bench, communicate, do you run plays hard even when they arent for you, etc.

I have never thought about team first as an attitude, it's about the on court playstyle. Sexton has great attitude, he is not a team first player.
Yeah, that's not the way FO/Coaches talk about it or at least it's not the only way they talk about it.

The only thing that I'm really taking from AA's hiring is that we should shift our expectations more towards neutral in relation to how we thought about DA's preferences. I thought we'd 100% be an Ace team before AA, less so now. But that's has less to do with AA coming in and more to do with DA having less presence. AA saying the most generic things possible about what he's looking for moves the needle zero.

Reminds me of that Jazz team from a few years ago when all our perimeter players thought the best way they can help the team win is to shoot. You can say they all were "team first" in that way :D

And in the mix of that selfish Rudy Gobert asking his teammates to play more defense. The gall of that man.
