Professionals estimates including the CDC. The fact it's slowing a lot in China already helps with that. There are very few new cases here in China.
Cases slowed in China because they ordered Hubei absolutely locked down. That's the only thing that stems the tide.

The lowest mortality rate is still five times higher than the various flu's of recent years. But this is just another one of those, right?

South Korea has done extensive testing. They have a .6% mortality rate for Covid19.

when you only test those in the ER rates look higher. Media sensationalism is blowing this out of proportion.
That is the lowest figure and it's six times higher than the flu which kills tens of thousands in the U.S. annually. That's with a vaccine and tamiflu.

Don't let your ignorance kill other people:

The mortality rate will come down. If you compare put the same standards of the flu against it and precautions it will be around the same as the flu and slightly less contagious. We don't need another seasonal sickness in the world but it isn't a reason to halt everyone's lives.

Mortality rate goes up exponentially with increased cases. The only way to slow the cases is to practice social distancing which probably constitutes "halt everyone's lives" to you. That is a long way of saying that you're wrong.

Mortality rate will go just like it has with the flu when we learn more about it and how to deal with it. When hospitals are overwhelmed then it does go up and that is an issue. There are also other big factors like the same people are dying from this that die from the flu. Many people who die from this also have the flu. And the biggest one the vast majority of people who have this after not counted as having this. Most don't have enough symptoms to report themselves. Experts think only 10% are countered meaning that stat is overblown.

Yes, people should use common sense like we should with the flu. If you're sick you should not go out and spread it everyone. Stay in your room. Wash your hands frequently. Don't sneeze or cough on people and so forth.

It's also most likely we can't stop this only slow it. So again should we stop lives forever for something we can't stop that only is scary for elderly people already sick?
