GSW Draft Pick Watch

Oh boy

Full on tank job. Messy.

Toronto, NJ and Detroit all win and Golden State loses their best chance to pick up a W at home against the lowly Hornets.

Utah is going to grab the last playoff spot and GS will end up #7 - the worst possible outcome.

So a 10th-14th pick is all that stands between us being mediocre and a serious contender for the next decade?

Probably not, but losing both those picks this year very well might be the difference between being a first round exit for the next several years, and getting past it sooner rather than later. It could also make a big difference in this team's ceiling over the next 5 years. Alec Burks has the potential to be a very good/great player for Utah. Having 3 players with that potential just tripples our odds of striking gold.

If we don't get it this year, we get it next for sure. Top 6 protected next year.

Yep, and if Bogut and Curry are healthy, we're looking at a late 1st, likely a 20 something in a weaker draft. Probably a much less valuable pick. Same with our own pick. We 'd lose significant value.

And if Curry and Bogut are not healthy, we very well may be watching them tank once again, only to keep their pick.

Not only that, but we lose a year for those players fit in and gell with the team. Believe me when I say we want those picks now.

Making the playoffs as the 8th or 7th seed is the first step in yet another championship... Oh yea zero titles after all that playoff experience. In the NBA, talent wins. The more you have the better chance you have in winning a championship.

Well said.

This isn't looking so good though. Warriors only have two easy games left. NJ tomorrow and NO 2nd to last game.

Im doubting we get this pick.

Why wouldn't a team kinda rather get an owed pick out of the way. Does it put restraints on you if you want to make a trade because you possibly owe a pick to someone else? Would you be able to make a trade involving one of your 1st rounders. In other words, would a team be better served just to pay that debt now so they can be flexable? I get that if they wait sometimes it turns into something less. But are you handcuffed through all that waiting? Does anyone in here know all the details on how that works?

The NBA's totally crooked anyway. Stern will be pissed at GS for tanking and purposely let someone jump them, pushing them back to 8th so Utah gets their pick.

But if Utah misses the playoffs and keeps their own lottery pick, Stern isn't gonna reward Utah's NOT-tanking by having them leapfrog into the top 3. It's Utah - he gains nothing by rewarding them.

We'll get GS's pick, and if we miss the playoffs we'll get the 14th pick too.
:)

8 and 14.

Well the Hornets are beating Portland on the road right now which is good for two reasons.

1. Maybe they are on a hot streak and beating GSW was a total sign of Golden State tanking.

2. There is still a chance Portland out tanks GSW.

It sure would be great to get a #8 or #9 pick in this draft. Cleveland seems to be on the tank trail with its recent losing streak. Sacto and Cleveland are holding their tank ground with GSW. That's going to be a tough wall for GSW to break through. Then if the Ws get the 7th spot, there's a fair chance one of the teams in the 8 - 14 range leapfrog them and send them back to #8.
