Hayward spot up threat?

I am going to have a good laugh "IF".
a) The Jazz surprise everybody and make the playoffs because our young guys gel quickly.
b) when this board goes high and to the right because we won to many games.
c) then jazz fans get ticked off because our coach didn't suck.

I know those are big IF's but it could happen.

I like you. :o

It's destiny. I've already proven his genius.

I would be thrilled with every single one of those. I'd love to know that the Jazz already have the pieces, including coach, to make a run. This season is a win-win for me. The only downside is seeing people cheer for losses and act like it is the cool thing to do. Leave that crap for Tankers fans.

Green with another whiff.

Hayward has been very productive setting up others. That'll be a huge responsibility of his going forward.

The

dude is just versatile. Don't put him in one or two slots.

Usually this dude drives me nuts, but he's right. I think Haywards ball handling is much improved. In the USA scrimmage, he looked to have even better ball handling then last year. Last year it was improved from the previous year. If Millsap can improve year after year in his ball handling, why not Hayward?

Also someone said Hayward isn't a good passer he's the best playmaker on this team till Burke proves he's better, which I'm sure he will. Hayward will surprise this year. I think he could even make an Allstar game. With Al and sap gone.... I think he will feel a bigger responsibility to this team. This should elevate his game with he himself placing more on his own shoulders.

I have no problem with Utah making the playoffs this year. That being said, finishing between 10-14 (lottery ranking) is a wasted season. The point of this year is to get out of the middle and have a chance to compete. If we finish in the 10-14 range, we didn't gain anything. Another wasted year. You either have to make the playoffs or SUCK big time. Middle ground is wasted years.

I would say that 90% of jazzfanz posters will be happy with whatever happens next season..... even if we miss the playoffs by one game and end up with the 14th pick in the draft.
That would mean that our young guys played pretty awesome and we still have a lottery pick plus another first rounder from GS..... I think you and frank are wrong about us wanting corbin to fail.... I think most of us would love for him to turn into an awesome coach, but we just don't think he will.

So in your scenarios:
A. If we make the playoffs, jazzfanz will LOVE it. That means the guys we have been wanting to see for years now have played their butts off and turned into the great players that we hoped they would.... Plus they get playoff experience and we get to see them play even more games!... Great scenario.

B. No one will be pissed when the jazz when games if burks, favors, kanter, and Hayward are playing big minutes while we are winning them.... Have you not been on jazzfanz for the last few years? This is exactly what we have been wanting to happen.

C. So you think we will be mad if corbin turns into a great coach? Idiotic thing to think.... We are JAZZ FANS so of course we would be happy if corbin turned into a genius coach.

Hayward can slash, but not if defenses are zeroing in on him. My first thought is that he needs to read defenses more when he drives, because he would habitually run into 2 guys and get the ball stripped after he picked up his dribble - it wasn't as much his 'ball-handling' in itself which was bad (at least I remember it like that).

I think his passing will improve with another season under his belt, but his TOs will still stay pretty high because we don't have that many offensive threats, and we can't afford to have him as purely an off-ball catch and shoot guy on offense. If his passing improves, defenses will give him more space and his finishing at the rim should improve too (BIG problem last season).

He will have inflated numbers on probably a bad team next season. Numbers-wise, he will probably be deserving to get him into ASG (SG is probably one of the weakest positions; Harden, Kobe and... Eric Gordon?). The bad team part will probably keep him off though. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he plays next season though.

I disagree.

Last year it WAS a wasted season cause we didn't develop our youth.
Next year if we end up in the middle then that means our youth were pretty damn good and got lots of experience and our bench was responsible for most of our losses and if we had a bit better bench then we would already be a playoff team with a core 5 all in their early 20's.... I think that is pretty cool.
Plus we can still get a couple of decent players in the draft and we still have lots of money to spend in free agency and lots of good players and assets to make trades.

I mean if we just miss the playoffs then that means at least a couple of our core 5 must have played really well so maybe we can get a superstar player through a trade using one of our core plus picks (ala james harden)
You would be ok if we didn't get a top five pick but ended up trading for a james harden type player wouldn't ya?

I do agree that the best case scenario would be to suck and get wiggins parker randle or harrison, and the 2nd best case scenario would be to be great and make the playoffs.... but finishing just out of the playoffs says that we have five 21,22 and 23 year olds that are pretty damn good, 2 first round picks, and lots of money for free agency.... which is not too shabby either.

I don't know bruh. Would be elated, but I don't know.

I think it is possible. Hayward was at 14 ppg last season on 43% shooting. The early reports are that Hayward has improved his shooting. He even, by reports, shot lights out at US camp. If that holds and Hayward hits 1 more 3 and 2 -3 more Js (his # of shots will go up with no Big Al) he will be at 21-23 ppg.

This.

Hayward's interview on DJ/PK was pretty good this morning. Still concerned about him being a leader and being vocal though.

I love your optimism, but gimme a break... Go look at every player that averaged 20+ ppg over the years in the league. All of them either have an elite level post game, or can create their own shot off the dribble. Hayward can't do either at a high level. To average in the 24 ppg neighborhood, you're venturing into the Carmelo, Durant, Lebron, Wade, Harden territory. Hayward is not even close to those types of players in terms of offensive abilities. It's not easy scoring 20+ ppg in the NBA, hell even with an offense centered a around him, Big Al couldn't even average 20+ for the Jazz.
