Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

I like Trevor Booker. I just don't see the point in having Jeremy Evans or anyone else even.

Favors, Kanter, Booker, Gobert and Novak is enough big guys.

They will need minutes for everyone.

Really hate the mindset of not getting talented players because they all "need" minutes. That is why you have a HC, so he can control the team and make them work together and not have minutes played be an issue with anyone.

Evans isn;t like Novak, Novak isn't like Booker, they are all different players who can play different roles based on situations. As a coach, that is what you want, flexibility so you can find what works and motivate players with earning playing time.

I like the signal this sends about our intention TO WIN. We aren't using our cap-space as rental space. We're filling out the roster and directing all efforts toward winning.

If we sign Aminu next, then I'll be totally satisfied.

Not sure if you're serious. Aminu? The Pels fans are dying to get rid of him.

I love this signing. Booker is a gigantic upgrade from Evans. I love what DL is doing!

I can't wait to see how Snyder works with the roster because we have a handful of guys who can play and guard multiple positions. Granted we're young and mostly unproven, but the potential to be a major problem for other teams is definitely there. Welcome, Trevor!

Agreed, the next signing should be a physical 3, then round out the roster with the non-guaranteed contracts.

This sounds good. Jazz somewhat addressed a lack of physicality amongst the bigs with the Booker signing, and could really use a physical wing to address what is a very weak perimeter rotation, from a physical standpoint.

Add more versatility.

I like it. Enforcer on a scrappy upstart team. Would probably stop any and all wet willy/slapping the ball out of people's hands shenanigans. Because that's the only thing holding us back. Too many damn wet willies.
Go on
Guys- he posted positive PER. 5 Mil a year is not bad at all for a young guy with a nice midrange game and is willing bang down low. We need quality reserves and he fits the bill. 5 Million...lol have you seen the contracts this offseason? chump change nowadays.
Im listnening

That is what I missed when the Jazz let Watson go. Still very fondly remember him going after Dirk for the way he slapped the ball out of Favors hands.

Love our group of guys but damnit I want to see some fire. Biggest thing missing from this team is some damn swagger and attitude.

Ok im now warming up to him
I'd take Murphy over Evans. Evans doesn't provide anything but energy and you can get that from any young player.

Come on man
What does Murphy provide? Energy > Nothing.

I guess Ayon is probably off the radar now.

For sure.

I did some research and he recently had shoulder surgery, so that might be scaring teams off. I just assumed the Jazz would address the area of need with a cheaper option.

Evans can't provide anything that Trevor Booker can't. Trevor Booker is actually pretty athletic. No he can't jump out of the gym but Booker is better at everything else.

Evans will just be sitting on the bench doing nothing. He won't play. If we keep him great. but I think he deserves some minutes on some team, but its not ours now.

One more thing:

Signings like this INCREASE our flexibility to trade young assets for a bonafide star. For example, as of today, Kanter and Burke are very "packageable" (because we have multiple players ready to plug-in to their spots). If you add a couple of picks to that (which we've been stockpiling), then things get very interesting.

When you are a bottom rotation player in the league, you have to compete with other bottom rotation players for minutes. Nothing is deserved. Evans has improved every year, so I think he will continue to do so.

I disagree that he brings nothing unique in regards to Booker. Evans just makes some ridiculous plays with his athletic ability that possibly no one else in the league can make. Those kind of plays really give the whole team a boost. I don't see why he can't continue to get spot minutes here and there, even with Booker.

Fair point. But it makes it harder to resign them both if that ends up being the action the FO chooses to take.

2 sides to every coin.
