This shot is anywhere from 20 to 25 feet away from the rim on a basketball court and is worth 3 points.

"What is a 3 pointer and why the **** don't you take any Alec?"

Seriously though. It's been 6 preseason games and Burks has taken a grand total of four 3 point shots.

It's just not who he is. He doesn't feel comfortable shooting them unless wide open. He's got a new shoulder and wants to attack.

Why don't you ask him? He'd probably be the first to tell you. And maybe there isn't a reason, maybe it's just his instinctual, deeply-engrained response to catching the ball: drive in some off-kilter manner towards the hoop to either pass or shoot. Is that so wrong?

Cool, he needs to take more 3 point shots. Our starting lineup can't have 1 good 3pt shooter, 1 inconsistent 3pt shooter, and 3 guys who dont shoot 3 pointers.

Also, I get the new shoulder and his shot probably not being great right now, which explains his reluctance to shoot. It's ****ing preseason though. Just take some shots so you can get a feel for shooting jumpers in game.

Mike Dantoni's nightmares probably consist of images of our offensive spacing.

He made 3 shots and scored 14 pts.

Yeah, he is a great talent. You are ignoring the point though. You can't succeed as a team in this age of the NBA with a SG who won't take open 3 pointers, especially when you have two bigs who provide next to no floor spacing.

I agree with this. I don't think Burks is confident he will make them.

Also, burks has been very good this pre season..... Maybe our best player (not saying much though)

Who is the good three point shooter and what is his percentage so far this season?

The correct solution is likely not as simple as Alec shooting more semi contested 3s. It might mean making him the primary offensive role like Hayward had last season, putting him in the 2nd unit, or exploring trades.

Would it be good for him to go 1-3 from three each game and not get to the line or the rim very much?

He is not getting very many shots per game (less than hayward, favors, burke, and hood) so if he starts taking more threes then that means he takes less shots at the rim and less free throw attempts. Is that a good thing? (I honestly don't know)
