Keyonte George Hype & Appreciation Thread

Because we play more than 5 guys? Keyonte isn't going anywhere.

Drafting a guy you hope is your 6th man gunner off the bench when you already have a prospect you hoped would be your 6th man gunner off the bench feels like a pretty strong signal.

Both guys are 6'3" SGs with mediocre wingspans, they're too small to be anything but gunners off the bench without massive and unlikely passing development.

Guards do take longer to get going. Garland was pretty bad his first 2 years. Only really took off his third year. The raw FG% looks pretty bad but the TS% is 53.9% which is below average but not horribly so.

As much there's work to be done on defense, he could use some work on shooting efficiency

You know, there a reason why some players gets minutes despite minutes limitations, they help their team get buckets. But If you're gonna struggle to reach 40% fg and 35% fg3...

I mean, I don't know how else to take the Walter Clayton Jr pick, lol.
Yep, you are reading too much into it for sure

I will say I am still firmly on the Keyonte George believer Island. I don’t know why but I just have a feeling he’s going to be really good for a long time he’s only 21 years old and the flashes are there if he can put the ball in the hoop with any sort of consistency he is atleast a sixth man of the year level player

21 years old is too young to say what a player will or won't be.

so in the nba draft, teams will often take what is sometimes referred to as "best player available". on the interwebs, you'll see it typed out as BPA. it's probably that's what the Jazz considered Walter Clayton. but just taking a stab in the dark.

The issue here is that both guys are so duplicative and play an archetype where duplication is very bad and where teams around the league refuse to trade for this archetype.

So the overlap is so horrendous that any sense of BPA vs. fit has to lean towards fit this late in a draft class as there's probably like 5 guys around the same tier at least.

But instead, they picked a guy who, if good, will render Keyonte George (a player with no hypothetical trade value) of 0 value to the team

you pick the best player available. if he renders somebody else on the roster useless, so be it. it means you made a good pick and the other guy wasn't good enough. the nba is a dog eat dog world. put up or shut up.

on the other hand. both guys can play with or without the ball. if they are both good, they can both play and play together.

No, they can't, lol. They're way too small and they're pure SGs, just very undersized.
