One of Key, Carter, or Collier needs to turn into a starting caliber PG. If Collier can learn how to make 36% (league average) of his threes on 4-5 attempts per game, I think he's an above average starting PG. That might be asking too much.

Aesthetically Carter just looks like a modern day NBA point guard to me. If his quick release and shooting percentages carry over to the NBA, I could see the playmaking coming more naturally for him given NBA spacing. Seems like the leadership and drive are there.

I have no idea on Keyonte. He has all the tools to do it. I'm hoping that clearing out Sexton and Clarkson is a bit of an opportunity for him to take the reigns. If you ask me, Sexton was not the right veteran to have alongside Key these past couple years. Sexton is too early in his NBA career to start focusing on developing/helping the next guy. Plus, it didn't seem like the coaching staff saw Key as a PG for the second half of last season. Mental, leadership, focus, defense.......all question marks.

Literally just one of these guys has to hit and it will provide a lot more hope for the future.

The issue for me is that if he's off-ball, he's probably going to be guarding a wing as opposed to a PG. We're automatically at a size/length disadvantage. Do we want a 6'3" off-ball gunner as a foundational piece?

Ultimately, if we are going to get good, he will eventually slide in as 6th man and is not a starter. Replaces Clarkson. Also, it is Clayton, not Carter that you are referring to in your other posts

Touche. However, this is hoping he will get there for the first time. I am a defense first person, so it pains me to watch him. I will give him one more season to get better at defense and if not, I will be completely done.

will hardy has often talked about how coachable keyonte is, how willing he is to learn, how he picks things up, and now we're learning that he's first one in, last one out, during practices/workouts, etc. key isn't perfect, but if you think he doesn't have solid attributes that younger players can learn from, perhaps pull your head out of the sand.

Dude, cmon. It's Summer League. Ace should just be Ace at this point. He has to learn and the best way to learn is to not overthink at the start and let the lumps come then adjust. You are being dramatic.
 
I think he can be very good offensively, but chances of being starter level is slim with his defense. You pretty much have to be all star level to do that. He likely falls closer to the Monk/Sexton scale of things and that might not be worth a full MLE nowadays.
