Question for Mormons

If someone doesn't feel comfortable or correct about some aspect of their life, they should change it. Staying in a church that doesnt make you happy makes no sense. I have a difficult time believing God wants anyone to be miserable to ensure their salvation.

Please be sure to recognize that I wasn't calling for anything to the contrary. What I said spoke to more nuanced, sociological changes. Your response was about personal ethics. Those are two different discussions.

Nope, but all of my business partners are mormon and the stories they've told me (as crazy) lead me to believe they're not, at all. Also, without getting into any details, they've told me what things are not permitted .. with all due respect, no thanks.

And just where did they get their information about what is/is not permitted? Of course, anything outside marriage is not allowed (i.e. a 3-some, swapping, etc., but as to what a husband and wife do together, there are no official doctrines, only advisories that nothing should be degrading or forced upon one or the other partner. If your business partners are telling you otheriwse, it is their own opinion or that of a bishop who has voiced his personal beliefs.

As to the original question, I would consider it. But having different spiritual beliefs and objectives makes a relationship/marriage a lot harder. There are quite a few people in my ward who have a spouse that is not a member or inactive. It makes it quite difficult to see one parent trying to rein herd on several kids at church. And I imagine there could be serious discussion/disagreements in those households over going to one church or another (if both are active in different faiths) or whether to recreate or not on Sundays.

As Mr. Gib showed, it was more than just a bishop who tried to 'clean things up'.
