Rudy’s value

What I noticed is that when Ayton played against the clippers, the clippers couldn't play small ball. He punished them too much down low and they schemed differently to not get beat by small ball.

So, I think that the differences between Ayton and Gobert that got the suns past the clippers are AGILITY and a POST GAME.

I think that Jarrett Allen gives you 90% of what Gobert does defensively while also getting you 120% more in agility and post game. All at a rumored $100 million deal (half the price). Gobert for Allen S&T and Nance would make me happy.

The only other solution is that Gobert needs to improve in those categories. I won't put that past him.

Oh, yeah, and Snyder needs a better small ball scheme. I am not convinced he has that.
I actually watched small ball be very affective against ayton and the suns early in the series. I think that the clippers ran out of gas though. I made a bunch of comments about it in the non jazz playoffs thread.

Always somebody else's fault when it comes to Rudy....

Chris Paul undoubtedly makes Ayton better, but his ability, offensive skills and shooting range is better than Rudy.

Rudy is definitely a better defender though. No doubt.

Weird thing is that despite all this better offensive skills he averages the same amount of points on worse efficiency.

Rudy wasn't just the best defensive player in the league this season. He had arguably the best defensive season of all time in the history of the NBA.
Eh, maybe defense isn't that important anymore though.

Rudy only shoots when he's in a very specific position. Thats good because he doesn't take shots he shouldn't take but also bad because a good defense knows exactly how to funnel him to negate his locations for high percentages. This is why many of us have been clamoring for Rudy to learn another offensive skill. Anything.

Ayton is only 22 and is slowly learning how to diversify his offensive offerings.

As for defense, Rudy is a regular season beast. In the post season, teams have found a way to lessen that influence. We need to find a way to have him impact games more come playoff time.

The two teams that make the most sense for Rudy are Dallas and Atlanta.

Dallas has even worse trade assets than we do, so nothing can happen there.

Atlanta would probably give you Capela, a future pick, and maybe a Cam Redish.

So I think that's probably the baseline package: a replacement center of the team your trading with, a future pick (won't be great because any team who wants Rudy is going to be a team that is already very good), and a young player (but not a top tier prospect, a dude who has disappointed a bit).

I think Charlotte has to be on the list too.

This is essentially what I said and laid out in another thread.

You do this then try to re-route Reddish and the pick along with Bogey/Clarkson/30 plus 4 future 1st round picks to Portland for Lillard.

Why don’t you give your honest opinion about the question rather than throwing shade at someone? You may be one of the biggest Gobert fans here. What is he worth? You act like he’s God, so could we get Zion for him? I’d make that trade in a heartbeat.
I don’t waste my time with stupid questions. And I don’t give trolls the time of day. By the way, you want respect, this is probably the most respect I’ve shown to one.

Okay, fair enough. I was hoping for your opinion more than others since you rate him higher than most. Sincerely wondering if we had to rebuild, what could we get.

I think there is a decent chance that a team desperate to just make the playoffs would make a solid offer.

It would have to be in season or next year but yes. I can see us getting something really solid. I just don't think we can do a full pivot in time to appease Donovan. So hopefully the haul has value in a rebuild or with Donovan.

Yeah, the restrictions put a wrench in the timeline, but I don’t see why a deal In principle couldn’t be made in advance and executed when league rules allow. Again, it’s a wrench, but I don’t think it’s an obstacle that’s impossible to work around in some form.

I just think a change that big will require a training camp and summer to adjust... like you said its not impossible... just helps make it even more unlikely... a team would kinda have to bowl us over.

I also think the narrative after the finals will change because of Giannis and Ayton... "Big Men Are Back!"
