It was not a smart move by Quin to pair Lyles with Booker. It would be interesting to see Lyles getting some minutes paired with Gobert.

Yeah I would be all for the long-term view of playing him early in the year if he showed enough to think he might be a contributor by year's end. I don't see him being that at all... the offense has been rough and the defense is terrible. Pleiss and Neto (less so, but still) are in the same boat for me. give them D League and bring them back up as need be, but don't just give them a regular rotation spot.

Withey has been great and is on a steal of a contract and is only 25. Does a little on offense with rebounding, but is a really good rim protector. Was shocked we got him, was shocked that NO didn't play him as much last year... with guys like Baynes getting like $6M per year on multi year deals getting Withey for minimum was niiiicceee.

practice gainst nba players is better then dleague games for players.. Dleague games are glorified pick up games with fringe nba talent. Could be worse for players that are soft mentally like Lyles. As a high draft pick if you don't put up monster numbers then eye brows are going be raised
 
I think the Dleague would help Lyles. We are talking about a guy who played SF for a year at UK and has now been playing mostly center for the Jazz. Let him be an actual PF for a month in Idaho.

You should probably let all the NBA GMs in on this secret so they will stop wasting their time using the D-league.

For me this is the more important part of the discussion.
It isn't "play withey more cause of how bad lyles and pleiss are", for its "play withey more because he is good."

I am so confused as to why he was not getting any burn.
 
Lyles needs a shooting coach. He needs to practice game type shooting drills over and over. He would look better at SF, but will never be able to if he shoots like he has been.
 
I was also wondering why Withey was not playing, then during the Atlanta game I notice he does not understand the offense. He was always out of position which was crowding the floor, and bring his player into the play.
When Gorbert was out, I thought Withey was the perfect defensive fill in. Maybe developing Lyles for the future was a better option than Withey's messing up the flow of the offense.
But then again I could be smoking some really wild stuff out in left field

Snyder's offense is basically the Spurs offense. It should not be that hard to learn.

Kinda dubious assertion. Teams play ~4 games per week where the scrub rides the bench. 3 days for practice and teams are often resting their starters for games the next night. I'd rather have them on the court in the D League for at least some of the season.
