No, just hopeful to help you find a truer version of yourself. For example, whenever you post one of these things to get member's takes, it's always from some conservative agitator with a less than rigid adherence to the truth. I don't see you positing anything from similar left-wing sites.

I don't know what you mean by find a truer version of myself.

I do agree that some of the times I do post things from conservatives view points. However, it doesn't mean I'm married to that source or even I agree with it. I feel many active posters on here lean left and it makes posting on here interesting. Especially when I post something I know that will ruffle feathers or will go against the grain. I try and be honest about it most of the time (my initial thread about Shapiro, I pussyfooted about liking him - since then, I try and shoot straight - I have my opinions. I know they can be wrong sometimes, I can admit when and I have changed my opinions on many things because of Jazzfanz.) Posting the comment yesterday, with all the points, you responded to was a sincere interest in hearing people's takes on this because the MSM's have been anything but non-agenda driven. I haven't spent the time to research it outside of reading a few articles about it, YouTube videos, social media posts, SNL lol.

That said, I do post plenty of things from non-conservative sites and people too e.g. Huffpost, Washington Post, NYTs, Vice, Joe Rogan ;), etc.

I think he called you alt-right. Which I'm sure isnt accurate, but it was in response to a post of yours which appears to be a bunch of alt right garbage.
I thought alt right and far right were synonymous, but either way, I'm not.

I posted that to see what was bs, not because I agreed with it, liked it, etc. I distanced myself from it.

It popped up in my Facebook feed. A lot of my friends are conservative homers and I wanted to see who knew what was bs because I knew some of it had to be after reading it. It's a damn shame people are simple minded enough to marry my opinions to that post and call me alt right, but I guess One Brow has a point in doing my own research.

“Research” in this sense is simply talking and reading info from informed people. Does it matter if an informed source is found on a sports forum?

If I had farming questions Just the tip would be a good source. For example.

I see zero fault with what you did

To me he is an articulate Dutch, nothing more.

I agree that sometimes you have to take a stand. Absolutely. Where I disagree is that this stand must be team A or team B. Not liking one team says nothing, absolutely nothing, about ones feelings for team B.

I openly disparage and ridicule them both. To me trying to assign who the bigger group of assholes and degenerates is wasted effort. Do we really care that one mountain of **** is 5 miles high and the other is 20 miles high? Either way we drown in ****.

Yes, I hope the Ds take the House. Mainly to slow down the Rs. I wanted the Rs to take a house under Obama for the same reason. I have zero faith in either party. And loudly call for expanded parties and push people to break the R and D mold.

Is that itself not a stand. Enough ******** already.

Oh and don’t confirm Kavanaugh. He’s not the right person.

For me, if I am going to be true to myself, my values, and the policies I believe my government should be supporting, I really have no choice but to support the Democrats. One of my favorite commentators on current events, as well as interpretation of American history, is Tom Englehardt. I have, on occasion, posted some of his essays here, his Tomgrams, when I thought it would add a meaningful perspective. Like myself, he sees Trump's approach to climate change, and Trump's appointment of climate change deniers, and indeed anti-science individuals, throughout his administration, as one of his greatest "crimes". Indeed, Tom believes future generations will view Trump as having been guilty of crimes against humanity for his position on that one issue.

We only have one planet. Under Pruitt, Trump's administration basically was willing to sacrifice the health of present and future generations of Americans to the financial interests of the fossil fuel industry. I must admit I very much agree with Engelhardt in that respect.

So, while accepting that politicians will be politicians, regardless of which party they represent, at this time in my nation's history, I must oppose, with every fiber of my being, please excuse my over dramatization, if so it appears, the Republican agenda, and Trump's agenda. I do indeed look at this as a battle for future generations, of Americans, and future generations of humanity on this planet. The stakes simply could not be higher. The Democrats would not have pulled us out of the Paris climate accord, leaving us standing alone among nations. This, to me, is Trump's greatest crime. I realize politicians will be politicians, but under these circumstances, I must take this stand.

Then right on red. Take that stand. I find you insightful and informed. I like that. It’s a reason I read your posts closely.

But for me there are things the Ds are pushing for and supporting that I cannot.

My stance is the support of the fall of the Rs and Ds.

It's exactly why I engaged in the first place. I tend to do more research and it sparks my interests to learn more about an issue than if I don't.

The assumptions that are made from my posts are a bit much though. I mean, I know I can be opinionated and annoying sometimes, but to call me alt right, or that I'm not true to myself or I support something I clearly state I don't is a bit much for me.

"Hey, dudes, is this true about Trump or what do you think about it?" - AM

"Burn the witch! He's lazy, not honest with himself, alt right, polarized bipartisan, racist, sexist and a Trump lover." - T, OB

"No, I'm not." - AM

"Yes you are! You posted about it and were too disingenuous to post your true feelings and support." T, OB

This is another example of why I hate bipartisanship. It creates way too much of a - you're either #teamedward or #teamjacob complex.

Well of course I (being the accused in this hypothetical) would feel that those posters are wrong.

You could probably ask a similar question to a victim of rape who accused someone and the rapist never had any consequences for the rape.
I agree, but presumption of innocence has been a bedrock of justice in this country for its entire history. We've always believed it is more important to avoid wrongly convicting people than to punish someone unjustly. It is frightening to me that people suddenly want to throw that out.

I already said that Kavanaugh has disqualified himself as far as I'm concerned because of his behavior in that last hearing, but I still think the conversation matters. I also believe that he was put under a ridiculous amount of pressure. Imagine, if you had been on that stand, knowing (as you do) that you are innocent, yet having leaders of the country and large segments of the media an population putting more and more stock in increasingly terrible claims. It would have seriously sucked. I'm sure glad my career has no similar pathway. Going through a divorce and being lied about in that much more private setting was terrible enough for me.

I mean, it's not uncommon for people sympathetic to certain viewpoints to present them as 'simply asking questions' but I'll take you at you word that is not what you were doing here.

As an aside, I always assume everything that comes into my Facebook feed is BS, from either POV. Facebook is so ****ing awful. Probably the worst breeding ground for misinformation online.

Why is it uncommon for people to be sympathetic to certain viewpoints when simply asking questions? I think that's a dangerous mindset to have.

I agree. I take most of what I read on Facebook, etc as bs. That's why I posted my comment, to see what could be called BS right away.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but if you've ever watched cable news or listened to AM radio you'll see this phenomenon all the time.

'Is Hillary guilty of murdering Seth Rich?'

'Did George Bush plan 9-11?'

We're just asking questions here people!

That sort of thing.
