Taylor Hendricks Hype Thread

For me, each time I so much as get pulled over, it feels like I'm dealing with a bully who can decide to ruin my day/week/life for any arbitrary reason they feel like. You said they have the toughest job along with teachers. I've never felt this way dealing with a teacher.
That's true.
I think teachers are rarely dealing with hardcore criminals though. I think that everything a cop deals with builds up and they get pissed and stressed and their mental health goes to ****

Like if a cop only wrote speeding tickets and nothing else and the speeders always behaved relatively well then I bet that cop wouldn't behave poorly.

I feel like I'm a pretty reasonable human. I feel like I'm mostly kind and empathetic.

I also feel like if I was a cop for a few years I would turn into a pissed off stressed out ******* and my kindness and empathy would diminish greatly.

Don't know if that's true but it's how I feel it would go.
Work would literally always suck. Every day.

I don't like my job all that much but it's fine and most of the time doesn't suck bad.

I don't know man. I don't think it's that rough in Utah. But, I do think most of them see it that way. Like they're the the wall that divides order from chaos. Which is an unfortunate way to see things when you're a public servant in a democracy.

Imagine getting home from work and you wife asks for you day was.
And you're like "a dunk dude spit in my face"
Then the day she asks how you day was.
And you're like "a crackhead tried to stab me with a broken beer bottle"

The next day you get to tell your wife that you responded to a carwreck and found a dead 5 year old girl.

The next day you get to tell your wife that you knocked on someone's door trying to get information about a crime got attacked by their pitbull.

And over and over for years and years. Plus everyone hates you without knowing you because you are a cop. Every traffic stop the driver is mad that you pulled them over.

And over and over day after day

**** that. I would turn into a dick I bet

Yet, social workers tend to be some of the most sympathetic and understanding people out there.

That's true.

From what I understand many of them are hella depressed too though (rightfully so)

Well, yeah, it's rough, like you stated. They have to see awful **** on regular basis. But I think social work attracts a different kind of people, thus the difference. I don't think the job makes cops bullies. I think bullies are attracted to police work, and the system they're in encourages bullying behavior.

The reason i started wearing whitey tighty underwear after that day was because one of my friends in the car had a bag of weed on him as well but didn't get busted because it was in his underwear. So that is where i started keeping my stash when driving.
You could’ve saved yourself $500 had you watched The Breakfast Club.

Social workers aren’t charged with enforcing anything, they often aren’t gatekeepers (some exceptions but when they are gatekeepers, it’s not in a direct sense), and detainment is never part of the equation, so people will naturally approach interactions with each much differently. But I can also point you to many jaded social workers lacking in empathy.

That's a good post.

I actually wrote a novel this year. It’s on Amazon. It’s about a US Army tactical psyop team operating in Latin America during the 1980s, my old unit.
What the? For reals? Send me a link in a pm. I'm almost done with my current book (upgrade by Blake Crouch) and don't know what I'm gonna read next.
So is it fiction or non fiction?
Is it available in Kindle format?

Yes available in both Kindle and paperback. Fiction. A US Army soldier in Panama facing financial problems decides to smuggle drugs to the U.S. He crosses paths with the Medellin cartel, a Panamanian street gang inspired by Santeria, and members of the Socialist Revolutionary League and things spin out of control. Will PM you link.

Man, David Hume's work seems a lot more diverse than I remember.

Just checked it out on Amazon.
I will almost certainly read it. I like the length. My favorite book length is between 300 and 700 pages. I read some that are shorter and some that are longer but that's the sweet spot and looks like yours is just over 300.
That's cool that you wrote a book man. I'm very impressed
