Hoops rumors says the Jazz are looking for an Aaron Gordon like wing in the trade market but that we have no trade assets. Gee ya think?
Did Rudy Gay come to us because he really wanted to play for the Jazz, or did he come to us because we gave the biggest, longest deal he could get?No... I also don't see us moving Gay. "Hey thanks for picking us... also welcome to Indiana" (or whatever terrible team we sent him to). Not that he is off limits. I think the return would have to be pretty good to do that type of move.
I'm seeking a super high paying job that doesn't require many hours or much stress... showing up on time needs to be optional.Hoops rumors says the Jazz are looking for an Aaron Gordon like wing in the trade market but that we have no trade assets. Gee ya think?
I think both. I think he likely had his choice or a few offers in our range. He likely had lower offers from other "glamour" teams.Did Rudy Gay come to us because he really wanted to play for the Jazz, or did he come to us because we gave the biggest, longest deal he could get?
Orlando is a mess, but would they consider JC and Gay for Gary Harris? Harris is an expiring and unlikely to stay.I think both. I think he likely had his choice or a few offers in our range. He likely had lower offers from other "glamour" teams.
I get your point. I just doubt he gets us more in a trade than he gives us on the court. He also becomes more important once we trade JC. So the return would need to be such that even Gay and other players think its a no brainer. Like if its JC and Gay for Barnes... well of course we do that. I just doubt there is anything other than a marginal return. Gay is an important piece for us in the playoffs and represents our chance to size up or down based on need.
Yep. That's why, though painful, we should really look at any decent offer we get for Conley at the deadline. Some might say he has more value to us than anyone else, but if we do get an offer, we might need to take any assets we can get. If we got some sort of expiring and/or any draft capital while also trading JC for the same, its conceivable that we could make a splash in free agency next summer.I'd be curious to know how much trade value our guys outside of Don and Rudy actually have? I'm sure Royce has quite a bit because he's a 28 year old 3&d guy. Joe and JC have pretty much tanked all their value this season and Gay's really old. Even Bogey and Conley's value is likely much lower than we think it is because of their age and contracts. All it took for us to get Paschall was a future second round pick, so he has no real value. Our young guys like Butler and Hughes were both second round picks and haven't been given an opportunity to prove themselves, so they likely have very, very little value and don't even get me started on Dok.
We basically have no young talent on this roster to any real value besides Royce and our draft assets are extremely poor compared to most other teams.
Gay also has a good relationship with Conley, that undoubtedly had something to do with it.I think both. I think he likely had his choice or a few offers in our range. He likely had lower offers from other "glamour" teams.

Nah... they would rather the contract expire... he might even re-sign next year for cheaper than what Gay is getting.Orlando is a mess, but would they consider JC and Gay for Gary Harris? Harris is an expiring and unlikely to stay.
Orlando could trade Gay to a team with an exception (like Dallas or Brooklyn) in order to pick up another asset.
Can Richardson be traded this year? I thought his extension put him in the same category as Brogdon where his trade eligibility date falls after the deadline.Josh Richardson would probably be a better fit for the Jazz than Levert. Richardson defends, moves the ball and makes 3s. He's shooting nearly 10 percentage points from 3pt than Levert this year.
Levert reminds me of an Alec Burks-type so-so offensive player.
I think Mike has better value in the offseason. PG is a bigger change than most contenders can make right now. Bojan's value should be somewhat similar to Grant/Barnes imo... but it likely is not.I'd be curious to know how much trade value our guys outside of Don and Rudy actually have around the league? I'm sure Royce has quite a bit because he's a 28 year old 3&d guy. Joe and JC have pretty much tanked all their value this season and Gay's really old. Gary Harris wants $20+ million in a contract which is why Orlando might trade him.Nah... they would rather the contract expire... he might even re-sign next year for cheaper than what Gay is getting.
I'd be very focused on:
1- Moving JC for an expiring... that hopefully is attached to a defensive player>
2- Moving JC for something different like LeVert/Richardson etc.
3- Finding a value deal like Williams.
4- Not taking on any additional salary for a guy like Ingles.
I know we don't want to wait to address our needs... but if we can clear some cap room to use our MLE next year and/or the BAE there are a lot of free agents in that tier that will help us. Some flexibility would come in handy. As it stands the tax on using our taxpayer MLE next year would be too costly. Moving JC changes the finances substantially. If he bounces back second half of the year this might be an offseason strategy.
We can hunt for the home run deal... but there are so many buyers... and what we are looking for is SCARCE. Good luck Ainge.
Ummm... not sure where you or Gary got that number but good effing luck. He will be lucky to get the full MLE given his injury history and iffy shooting. Just because he makes $20M now does not mean he is worth that going forward.Gary Harris wants $20+ million in a contract which is why Orlando might trade him.
I think he's an excellent fit next to Donovan. And Conley too if we can get Harris without Conley

Then why not just go for Chris Boucher?Nah he does everything you’d want in a stretch four except the stretch part.
