Trade Mitchell (Include Clarkson)

We played one game last postseason without Don. It was game 1 at home as the 1 seed playing the 8 seed. He sat and we lost. We had everybody available but Don.

Single data point.

4th in 2021 playoff scoring. 44% from 3. On a bad ankle.

We could do this all day. Don is an amazing playoff performer.

No one said he wasn't. He scores in bunches, and cannot stay in front of a scrub that hardly plays which cost us the series. There is more to success in the playoffs than scoring. He set records with 50 point games then allowed a guy nowhere near as dynamic as him to match him, and lost the series. Scoring is not the problem, stopping anyone else is. Sadly, we can do this all day.

So it's his job to score 50 AND stop Murray? No team is built that way.

He doesn't play bad postseason defense. He's average. Just like Lillard. Steph. Murray. Others.

Our playoff issues have nothing to do with Don. Or Rudy. It's that we don't have 3 good defenders around those 2.

In Game 7 against Denver, Donovan not only scored like 20 points in the 3rd quarter to bring us back, he also guarded Murray. He completely shut him down.

When the 4th came, Don ran out of gas and nobody else stepped up their games on offense or defense.

MJ was a playoff loser (1-9) until he got to play with Pippen. Great offensive players need help on defense.

It's easy put thread TRADE Mitchell now or trade Gobert.
How to make a team better that's a Point.
Yes his value is high but if we put him on the market now. We lost this year we're in rebuilt Mode. I would give this team a Chance.

No he needs to play passable defense. Hell just ok defense would have won us at least one of those series. Not a single championship player ever has only scored and played zero defense. Name one. We can go back quite a ways and see that all the main players on championship teams were 2 way players. That's ridiculous to say that his only job is scoring and **** playing any defense. He, and all of our other perimeter players, couldn't guard a traffic cone so we lost 2 series we should have won. That was due to defense, not offense. Maybe if he scored 40 and got 2 extra stops on Murray we win that series. It's monumentally stupid to say his only job is scoring and he shouldn't be expected to play any defense. That'll never get us to a championship.

Yes he waited until the final game to do anything on the defensive end. If he had some defensive focus any other time in the 3 straight games we lost we likely win at least one of those. You can make all the excuses you want but we lost those series because we were incapable of stopping perimeter players. Mitchell doesn't own all of that but he damn well owns some of it.

All of those you name, besides Mitchell, have better playoff defensive stats than regular season. Mitchell is the only one of those who gets worse in the playoffs on defense.

So we are blaming the guy who was our only bright spot of the series because his defense wasn't good enough every minute of the series?

Let's not blame Bojan for being out

Let's not blame Conley for being out for 2 games then playing like **** for 2 of the 5 games.

Let's not blame Rudy for getting his *** handed to him by Jokic.

Let's blame Don because he's supposed to be blamed for anything. No wonder Don might leave - moronic viewpoints like yours.

You haven't been reading or comprehending. Everyone responsible for perimeter defense and supporting Rudy by making an effort on defense, or little to no effort as the case may be, is responsible for the defensive lapses that cost us 2 playoff series. I said that directly. You're blindly trying to ignore the fact that Mitchell is part of that. And a substantial part considering the minutes he plays.

Show me these stats

Google it. Even just basic DBPM Lillard gets better in the playoffs, Mitchell gets worse, and so do the others for the most part Even if it's minor it's still an uptick vs a downtick.

I have said all along that Don should play better defense. It would help. However, we aren't losing playoff games because of anything Don is doing. He should be allowed to play average defense if he is going to play so well on the other end.

Steph plays average defense. Lillard. A ton of stars. They are protected by defensive perimeter specialists so they can do the work they do best. It's like blaming Shaq for sucking at the free throw line. He makes up for it elsewhere.

WE NEED PERIMETER DEFENDERS!

I would love for Don to be a combo of Marcus Smart and Donovan Mitchell, but that ain't reality.

Don plays average playoff defense and superstar level offense. Truth.

Not a single person on our team steps up their game in the postseason outside of Don.

You are fooling yourself if you think Don plays anywhere near average defense. He is abysmal.

You keep moving the argument somewhere else. Mitchell is a terrible defender whether it's in the regular season or in the playoffs. Our best chance to win a playoff series is with him on the floor. These 2 things are both true. It's just that your standards aren't consistent.

I think Don would be a fine defender if he was playing the point position and we had a bigger guard who could take on tough assignments or a wing that could do that as well… I don’t understand why Mitchell appears to have a reluctance to play the point position on the regular. You got to think that if he wanted to play the point he would be playing the point.
