Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

Damn I’ve always been planning to apply for an US university but the political environment looks really chaotic now. Trump suspending all the visas of foreign students is just crazy. He also tried to deport international students already enrolled in unis. I’m seeing all kinds of reports from Chinese media these days. I know some are exaggerated, but I dare not take such a great risk. Guess I have to attend university elsewhere and wait until this thing ends

Come to Australia mate we'll take your money and teach you how to drink.

Speak about not being able to read the room, Albo has a historic majority in the Parliament partly because of Australian's disgust and repudiation of Trumps politics. Hegseth, like Caesar's consul comes out and demands that allies up defence spending in Asia to 5 percent of GDP. Now i think the reason behind this is simple, the Europeans have responded to US demands and increased their spending, but they spent their money domestically, the US military industrial complex will only lightly benefit from European rearmament. The US is by far the biggest arms dealer in the Asia pacific region and would significantly benefit from increased spending. Personally I'd be happy to see us increase of spending especially on land forces, we recently significantly decreased an order for armoured infantry vehicles from South Korea. (significant number were to be built here) Id be happy to see us cancel our order for a new fleet of Abrams tanks for the latest variant of the Leopard (which is what defence requested but a political decision was made to buy Abrams) I think we are still waiting on the delivery of 60 Apaches from the US. There has definitely been a strategic shift toward increasing our naval power to assist the US in the region, personally I prefer we spend money on defending the the continent which geographically is basically unconquerable.

And then there is the AUKUS submarine deal....

Maybe look into UK unis? I don't know if Canada has universities (just kidding Canada) but maybe they have some good ones, as well?

There is a brain drain happening since the U.S. administration is loud and proud in their anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-collaboration, anti-immigrant, anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, anti-minority stance.

Haters gonna hate and MAGA is at its very core a hate group.
Yes perhaps. Maybe I’ll just take Gaokao and attend a Chinese university. Or UK and Singapore has some nice ones. But I always wanted to study in US partly because I can return to Utah and watch Jazz games often. Now this seems unrealistic lol

Well…judging from QS the university of Sidney or Melbourne looks fairly good and one of my friends wants to come. But u know there was a video going viral on Chinese social media about a Chinese couple being bullied by some teens and the comments said that this isn’t the sole case, I know most guys from Australia are very friendly and I’m also a fan of Jingles, but I might be somewhat concerned about safety. Btw bro do u know about this incident?

Between Melbourne Uni and RMIT there is a massive number of university dorms and a very big Asian student population. Considering its inner city Melbourne its still a very safe place for the most part. Like any big city there are junkies and *****ergs that cause problems but they cause problems for everyone not just overseas students. Its not race driven, its dickhead driven. I'm actually quiet surprised at how safe it is, I worked at the Royal Melbourne Hospital for nearly 20 years its opposite Melbourne Uni and was surprised at how common it was to see young female Asian students walking about on their own at 3 or 4am in Nth Melbourne. If I had a daughter that age i wouldn't be happy with her doing that but there are surprisingly very few issues (probably 4 or 5 rapes and murders in the immediate area in the last 10 years.)

I have to talk about the grotesque claim being peddled by the media that Elon Musk will responsible for the death of 300,000 children as a result of USAID cuts.

The 300,000-death claim comes from Brooke Nichols, a Boston University academic whose “Impact Counter” supposedly tracks lives lost due to USAID’s budget slashing.

Nichols’ methodology, as breathlessly parroted by The New York Times, NPR, and The Washington Post, is a straight-line projection based on 2024 USAID funding and historical mortality rates.

Sounds fancy, right? It’s not. It’s a glorified Excel spreadsheet with “huge error bars,” as Nichols herself admits, that assumes every USAID program vanished overnight and no one else not NGOs, other countries, or local governments step in.

This is statistical malpractice. Health outcomes don’t collapse the second funding stops; they erode over time. HIV patients don’t drop dead in weeks, and malnutrition deaths hinge on food supply chains, not just USAID checks.

Yet Nichols’ model claims 300,000 kids are already dead or dying by mid-2025, mere months after Trump’s January 20, 2025, executive order.

Where’s the evidence? There isn’t any. No audits, no body counts, no reports, just a computer spitting out scary numbers.

Worse, the model doesn’t account for waivers Trump issued for “life-saving” programs, like limited PEPFAR funding for HIV treatment.

And what about the Global Fund or UNICEF? USAID isn’t the only player in global health. TB programs, for instance, get just 25% of their international cash from USAID.

Nichols’ apocalyptic math pretends no one else exists. This isn’t science; it’s deranged activism with a broken calculator.

The media’s handling of this story is a case study in journalistic malpractice. Outlets like The New York Times and NPR didn’t just report Nichols’ number; they amplified it without a shred of skepticism. No one asked for primary data. No one demanded peer review. No one bothered to check if 300,000 deaths were even plausible in the timeframe. Instead, they slapped on heart-wrenching headlines “Trump’s Cuts Could Kill Millions!” and called it a day. This isn’t reporting; it’s Goebbels level propaganda.

This entire story was manufactured, using crap science and crap media to once again attack Elon Musk and President Trump. But also to make sure the attack is steeped in emotional terrorism for maximum effect.

Every single news outlet knows that printing a story that says 300,000 children are as good as dead is going to whip people up into a frenzy. To print the story anyway when you know it’s false is not just evil and reckless, it should be actionable.

It’s also a very chilling indicator of how the media has decided to amp up its negligent reporting and its complete total disregard for the truth.

Wow thanks for the feedback. I gotta seriously consider Australia as a possible destination. Sorry for the stereotypes before!

Will the Supreme Court take away Trump's authority to impose tariffs? BTW what ever happened to the Republicans steadfast belief in free markets? Can't wait for this entire regime to be neutered.

lol. Silly boy.

Free markets was yet another lie Repubs said. They merely pretended to care about free markets. Just like they pretended to care about deficits and strong foreign policy. All that matters is power. Just like the mafia. They want power to enrich themselves and their buddies. When you’re from east Jesus, Iowa, getting rich in DC and being invited to parties is way better than working a regular job and living among your stupid *** constituents. Just ask literally every utah congressman. Mike Lee hates his constituents. He doesn’t do any work in DC. But boy, does he love being a senator.
