Walker Kessler Bench Appreciation Thread

Walker needs to rework his jumper to have a prayer. I haven't seen much change there at all... just repeating the same wonky shot will only take you so far. I don't really care if he shoots a corner three here or there... I don't care if he works on it a little if he's prioritized it behind other things.

I am with Cy on this one, the Brook Lopez comparison makes no sense. Lopez was always a good free throw shooter like has already been mentioned, and he also had much more of an offensive game in the post and midrange than Kessler does.

I have a cleaning the glass subscription, and here's what they have on Lopez's shooting. Even before he started taking 3s he was above average in the midrange, even on long midrangers most years. There was a shooting foundation that Kessler doesn't have.

We all agree with what you just posted fwiw.

I don't think anyone ever said that Lopez was a worse offensive player, mid range shooter or free throw shooter than Kessler or that Kessler has a better shooting foundation or that Kessler has a better chance to be a good 3 point shooter than Lopez did.

Just that Lopez wasn't a good three point shooter early in his career but he did become one later in his career so it's possible, though unlikely, that it could happen to a different player.

I however he is shooting like 80% from the line (low volume) in like his last 10-15 games.

He is also better from the line than last season. Hopefully he does what gobert did from the line in terms of improvement.

Yes Kessler shot 88.9% from the free throw line in February, we can see his improvement and expect him to get better

You are literally comparing the two, but I don't care about semantics. If Brook is an example and not a comparison, it's a terrible example. If you really think Brook and Walker showed the same ability to shoot the ball and eventually make 3 pointers, I've got nothing for you. Figure that out on your own, it's not difficult. You are either arguing in bad faith or being so dumb it's not even worth discussing.
Lmao if you had even a decent answer you’d throw it in my face. Everything you said was wrong right down to you accusing me of comparing the two which went completely over your head like an idiot.

You directly compared the two, it ain’t an accusation, it’s fact. It’s literally quoted in the post I responded to. You compared Kessler’s shooting to Brook’s. It’s inarguable.

If you don’t understand why it’s a dumb comparison, even after it’s been posted in this thread, you are either completely stupid or simply arguing in bad faith. Either way, you are not worth any time.

Using a player as a case example is not the same as comparing them and saying they are the same player or even on the same path.

Yet you are correct that there is little to no evidence that Kessler currently has a foundation to build on, which Lopez definitely had.

His mechanics look clunky and his rhythm, form and release are wildly inconsistent.

Best argument for Kessler is probably banking on that he shoots well in practices/shootarounds (which is supported by the fact that Hardy allows him to shoot). In that case the inconsistency could mostly be a mental issue that resolves to some degree with added confidence.

They let Walker shoot corner 3s because they think it will get him to play hard by letting him try things, not because he shows well in practice.

I never compared them my god you are dense!! I gave an example of a player who wasn’t at all a 3pt shooter that became one to show it was possible for Kessler to be at least a decent at it. That’s all. I never compared their games to any degree but by all means continue your narrative to prove your right, and not wrong.
