What salary would you give to George Hill for the next season?

I would be comfortable with 17-20m and if it was 20 mil, it would be through gritted teeth, knowing full well that even that money in this market is probably slightly under.

The issue is this question mark he has over him health-wise, and he's not getting younger.

Maybe I'm just being cheap, but that's my line of thinking.

His 8 million this year makes him one of the most underpaid players in the league. Which is why nobody should hold a stupid grudge against him for keeping his options open. This will literally be his only chance to score a big contract in this league.

No, that is just how the NBA contracts work bud. Gobert signed the maximum a player with his experience could get paid. Hill plays a coveted NBA position and he played it at a borderline top 10 rate this season when healthy.

The top PG's with as much experience as Hill are going to get 35,000,000 a year. So when CP3, Westbrook, Wall, Lowry, Irving, Thomas, Curry, Lillard, and Conley are up to sign contracts, they are all going to get 30,000,000+. (Just look at Conley who is the most recent deal among those players, and arguably the worst of the grouping: He is going to get 34,000,000 in his last year).

So currently I would call getting 30,000,000+ as All-Star level PG pay. You dont have to be an All-Star to be in this price range, but you have to be close to their production level. It's Hill's agent hopes that Hill is considered close to this tier. The level that Hill was at early in the year firmly put him at Mike Conley level of production and importance IMO. That is probably his group's rationale in wanting a big contract.

Even if you dont view Hill to be in that group, it's hard to argue that he isn't close. That is why I think 25,000,000-30,000,000 price tag is probably what he is going to get. I would put his value right at 25,000,000 a year.

The Jazz best case scenario RN for the Jazz is that CP3 and Lowry both switch teams and take up offers from teams offering big money for PG's, thus lowering the available market and hoping we can get a deal closer to his 25,000,000 value (which I firmly believe the Jazz were probably offering in extension negotiations).
