What's new

Your top 5 videogames

I have my criticisms but it's a pretty good game.

Sad that, imho, the old game is far more sophisticated in pretty much every way other than graphics quality.
This exactly.

It's not as good as the original. Or Valkyria Chronicles.

Though note that both of those are top 5 all-time for me, so saying it doesn't live up to those two is far away from saying it sucks. It's very good, in fact. Just hard to improve upon perfection.

Never played the original. You were the one who recommended I play XCOM btw. It was very well received. I'm surprised the original is even better.

Speaking of X-COM, I'll be getting Xenonauts as soon as there's a Steam sale on it:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/223830/

It's basically a remake of X-COM that sticks much closer to the original. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

And although I haven't played the remake, count me as a third person who says the original is friggin' amazing. It's 20 years old, but doesn't show its age in any way except graphics-wise. It's still the best at what it does.

Anyone who has even a vague interest in strategy games and hasn't played X-COM, go on Steam and spend $5:

Guaranteed that you'll be astounded how advanced it is for a 20-year-old game.

I don't remember seeing anyone mention The Last Of Us..... kinda strange considering it was unanimous game of the year winner

I used to love the NBA Live Series, my first ever video game for the PS2 was NBA Live 2003.

I also used to play Frogger a lot on the PS1 before I got my PS2.

Playing Sega on my Sega Genesis was awesome as well. Got to love old games.

Wow, hadn't even heard of Xenonauts. After watching the video that game is 100% on my list. Does look a lot like the original X-COM.

1) donkey kong
2) Pac man
3) dig Dug
4) the Oregon trail
5) pong

Honorable mentions:
- super Mario brothers
- duck hunt
- lode runner

1. Portal 2 --> The most elegant, smart and imaginative game ever.

2. Mount&Blade--> The most addicting game of all times. Also the best indie game ever.

3. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 or FIFA Soccer 07 --> Best soccer games of the each series.

4. Bioshock --> The most impressive game for me.

5. Counter Strike --> The game I have played the most.

Counter-Strike 1.6
Bioshock
Fallout 2
Tomba! 2
Portal
Nice, we have three common games. Counting Portal/Portal 2 as the same.

Portal 2 ended with me absolutely drooling in the final scenic video. What a scenario! Anyone interested should check out the comics too.

I'm going to have play Portal games now....I had the Orange Box Half Life 2 game at one time....but just didn't get around to playing Portal.

Anybody remember Joe and Mac? That would probably would make my top 10. I loved that game.

You should also play Portal and Portal 2 with the story and the world of Half Life on the side of your mind. Remember Borealis?

There are a lot of references and most players believe the two stories will connect in a future game.

I believe Portal's success is the main reason that Valve won't release Half Life 3 any time soon.

And they look like they want to invest on this new portal tech logic in FPS gaming instead of simple select weapon and shoot.

Oh, the song at the end of the Portal I was also so good. One of the most lovely yet ironic songs of the gaming history ever.

Spoiler Alert Don't listen to the song if you haven't played the game.

I must have listened to that song several dozen times after I finished the game. So catchy
