Dennis Schroeder "will seek other opportunities to be a starter"...

I agree, and I said as much in am earlier reply. But if Burk doesn't improve to the level of a starting pg on a playoff competing team, then I think you take a chance on getting Schroeder. Atlanta would want a replacement at backup pg (Burk). Add Hood and roll.
Well my response was based on this quote:

Which I strongly disagree with at this time given the information that I currently have.

Atlanta doesn't seem to be in a rush, if at all to trade DS anyway, but if Burk isn't the answer you would need to give up a piece, to get one back. Hood's stats aren't noticeably better, if at all than Schroeder's.

But Schroeder uses the ball a lot more than Hood. Hood is a piece of a set play when he is on the floor and sometimes the ball is his to shoot. Schroeder on the other hand sure likes to go to that hoop without saying hi to any of his teammates. Maybe not at a critical level. But still a lot more in that aspect compared to Hood. so their minutes and shootings comparison is not good enough to compare I think. Especially when they are 2 very different type of players. If I were the Jazz, I would give Hood a lot of time to show what he can become.

Good post, but I'm not sure the Jazz have the luxery to let this cake bake much longer. Unless Burk's good preason showing translates against better regular season competition, Exum's injury needs to be addressed with the assets that have been aquired if we want to make a playoff run. I think Rodney has a great skill set, but I'm not sure he has the mental drive to get to an all star level. Schroeder had that drive imo.

This ain't no joke that I would be thrilled to grab Schro out of UFA. On the other hand I would not give much to this gamble if they were to sign and trade even though I don't expect Hood to become an Allstar any time of his career. Bake with the flour at home, the market might have run out of good flour, you know. Was that too mediocricitical?

I'd be willing to give up both Treys in a deal for Schroeder. He'd obviously be an upgrade at PG this year. Next year we could experiment with running Schro and Exum together (along with playing Hayward at the 4 more). Quin has always been an advocate of "positionless" basketball, after all. The defense, penetration, and passing they would provide together would be tantalizing. It's just a question of whether they could space the floor well enough. I suspect they'll both be serviceable spot up shooters, and playing them together with Hood and Hayward at the 4 would provide good spacing. There's a chance it could work, and is worth taking a risk on, imo.

I'm definitely interested in acquiring Schro, and there's a chance he and Exum could coexist like they did in the Hoop Summit, I'm just not interested in giving up Burks or Hood for him yet. We've got other assets to make it work. Just because Atlanta isn't rebuilding doesn't mean future assets like young players and draft picks are worthless to them.

I don't think there is a "correct estimation" yet for a 19 year old rookie, who hasn't played a single NBA game yet, who's skill reliant and plays team first brand of basketball.
Yep and not an incorrect one either. Basically every opinion of him is valid and invalid at the same time.

I think he is too poor of a shooter to be effective right now

If we get Schroeder and start him, we would be fielding a starting 5 with only 1 guy (Hayward) who is a real threat from 3. That would really cramp the spacing. He can't be worse than Burke, though.

Cameron Payne might cost them less upfront, and down the line.. maybe.. Who knows if OKC would even to listen to offers.. that could be said about Dennis though too.

I also think he's too inexperienced to be effective right now. But he has some intriguing skillset. I can definitely see him expanding his range and add some face up elements to his game. I liked the passing I've seen from him so far. If he can combine that with handles and a 3 pointer, he's gonna cause trouble. Like Lamar Odom, but in a good way(No Kardashians in the city of Utah)

now imagine if you made a judgement like this of Dennis, before his first season.
